May 2020 | Month #3 of COVID Living

5/1 | Moving from Red to Orange

I've been more conscious about having to date everything. With quarantine living our days seem to just blend into each other. It's such a weird time. Sometimes it feels like time is moving soooo slow and then all of a sudden it's May and I can't believe all the time that has passed!

Anyways...this month our state started to slowly and cautiously start opening up again. We've gone from High Risk to Moderate Risk. Non- essential businesses have opened up with proper precautions put in place.

5/7 | Happy 6th Birthday Viiga!

Birthday Post HERE

Also, got an email from the Church saying that Temples are opening back up in phases. That's super exciting!!

5/16-5/17 | Mother's Day Weekend

So.Much.Fun! You can read about it>> HERE

5/21 | Aljay's 35th Birthday

Our guy turned 35!!! He's halfway to 40 omg. hahah

He started his birthday [midnight - about 3am] recording at Lahvjal's house. Then he came home slept in and was pleasantly awakened to the joyous singing of his fan club, oh and breakfast of course.

After eating, he slept in some more and then just cruised and worked on a few art things before we went to the park for some bbq. Penny and VJal brought hot dogs and steaks, while we brought some sides and a shrimp boil!! It was the first time making shrimp boil but it was pretty good! Next time I'll add more butter at the end and throw in parsley.

I wish I took more pictures, but I got so busy and kids kept sneaking my phone away (so irrits). It was so nice though.

Audrey and David Ravia were in town for a few days so they joined us, as well as Mo and her cutie kids. After sunset, we went home, had cake, and hung out until the kids were cranky lol.

It was a great day.

5/24 | Salani's Baby Blessing & the Kid's Piano Recital

We started our day with Sacrament meeting, Sunday school, and then the kid's piano recital. The recital was so cute. They've been practicing and learning so much with Grandma. Leila and Sefa both did so well! Viiga decided to jump in too after seeing his older siblings do it. My phone died, but Brit and Penns recorded a lot. I'll try to grab those and post it here :)

After the recital, we had our meal and then a good break.

At 6 pm we had Salani's baby blessing. It was really good to have the blessing at home and with just immediate family. We had Lahvjal, Tui, and Bishop int he circle, with Aljay giving the blessing.

Salani was able to fit into the white dress Mom brought for her and Tuli, so she wore that and I tied the sash on her head as a headband lol.

5/27 Mom Goes to Hawaii

Due to COVID19 safety precautions, we weren't allowed to walk in with Mom. Only one member of the family was allowed to assist. So Brittany took Mom in to get checked in and the rest of us said our goodbyes at the drop off curb.

The borders to Samoa are still closed, but anyone going into Hawaii has to do a 2 week mandatory quarantine anyways. They call and check on her and everything too, just to make sure she is quarantined. So it was good that Mom goes early to get a start on that. American Samoa is opening their flights up again on July 1st so maybe Samoa will follow suit.

5/28 Last Day of School for the Kids and Viiga's Kinder Graduation

There wasn't a big Kindergarten graduation, but I don't think anyone missed the long ceremony lol. Viiga had received his graduation certificate, a paper graduation hat, and a book the week before. Then the school did a drive by end of year parade. It was awesome! We made leis for the kids' teachers and were able to get them all passed out! I hope they do this again next year.

So proud of this kid. He loves school and loves learning. He's a great student and friend to everyone. He practices what he learns and has excelled in reading. He's our favorite fiapotz guy! love you Viiga!
