Summer Fun [June]

I love summer!!!! We get to be outside more and do fun things outdoors. It's been a bit rough with Aljay's schedule and my schedule but we've still managed to do fun things with the kids. 

 June 7- Lash Extensions! Woohoo!

Stephanie (Tali's girlfriend) retired from Zumba (almost 9 years! dang) and was going to get back into lash extensions and nails...so she needed a model and yay I was in the right place at the right time!!! 

I was so excited to get them (especially cause it was freeeee) and was looking forward to being beautiful everyday and not having to put on mascara and eyeliner! But I quickly learned there are pros and cons. 

Pro- I don't have to do eye liner or mascara
Con- It takes me a while to get used to the look (I don't think they look natural enough on me but then again I've only tried the volume set...*p.s. there are other styles) Plus the synthetic lashes feel too heavy on my thin lashes. 

Pro- I have nice fuller curled lashes all day every day
Con- My selfie game is lacking...and it's a sad moment when you lose a lash

Pro- I wake up pretty hahaah
Con- my bare eyebrows offset the lash effect.. still gotta fills those baldies in.

Pro- They last 3-4 weeks
Con- I last 2-3 weeks. I'm not gentle when I wipe water or somos from my eyes lol And sometimes I forget that they are bonded to my real lashes and want to take em off like how you do with the strip lashes. 

So maybe in the future when I'm wealthy enough I'll try the C curl or whatever other style....But in the meantime I'll enjoy the extensions until they all fall out or I take em off. 

June 11- 8 Year Anniversary!
We remembered it this year!!! YAAYYYY!!! We're improving. I wrote a separate post for it....but I keep putting it off. I'll link it once I finish it.

 June 17- Making Ooblek(aka Cornstarch & Water)
Leila watches Maya from FullTimeKid on youtube and is always asking to make the things that she sees. So I finally remembered to grab an extra box of cornstarch for them to play with. They had a ton of fun and ended up playing in the hose after. 
June 18- Father's Day
Father's Day was same ol same ol hahaha. Wake up, get ready for church, come home, make food (Aljay requested steak so thats what we had), and a nap. 

 Once again Aljay had to work on Saturday, so we weren't able to do anything celebratory the day before. But it was a blessing because the client he was working with paid extra because he was so impressed with Aljay's work. So we're grateful. 
June 19- FHE @ FatCats
We took the kids bowling for the first time to FatCats in Provo. They loved it. Sefa even participated in their hula hoop contest and won a gift card for free bowling. I wanted to get pics but one of us had to help the kids bowl while the other had to chase after Saleima and Viiga (who ended up shirtless by the end of the night). 

 The kids only lasted one game...well almost one full game. On the last round Aljay broke the thing because he was trying to bowl super fast. After we bowled, we played a few arcade games, then picked up slurpees on the way home. So much fun!

June 24- Provo Splashpad
Again...no pics....but hey we had fun!! The pics below are from another swimming time at Vjal's pool hahah



I feel like I'm missing things.....it's all good. Main thing is that we've been having fun!!!

Being Prepared For These Times

Auuuu that title sounds like I'm trying to write a General Conference talk or something hahaha. Probably still on the GC vibe from the beginning of the month lol. Anyways... So this pandemic that's going on, it's been something else! It has put the whole world on lock down. So many lives have been affected. I've written quite a bit in my journal, but I wanted to make sure to write about how the Lord has prepared our family specifically for this time. Looking back just in February and March, we can easily see how the Lord had orchestrated parts of our lives.  In February Aljay secured an art collector who commissioned several art pieces. His deposit was the cushion that brought a sense of financial security when we entered this lock-down life.  Towards the end of February, my bosses had heard about school closures in Seattle and decided that we should have a plan in place for our advisers to work remotely in case the schools had to close. 2025 February

Leila - Volleyball and more Volleyball  Leila had two tournaments in February. This club season has challenged her in a good way. She wants to play the outside hitter position but is playing on a 16s team (meaning older girls with more experience) and is sitting in the 3rd spot for out side hitting. To get to the 1 or 2 spot she needs more reps, more practice, and more individual coaching. We're seeing improvements each week, but are planning to set aside money for her to do more 1:1 coaching.  These tournaments are no joke. They are allllll day. 6am - 7pm sometimes. 1-day, 2-day, and sometimes 3-day tourneys. The mental stamina it takes as a parent ahahahahh is a real thing! Trying to say the right things to keep your athlete focused, motivated, and locked in is tough. There are so many things that are over stimulating or compounding: - the non stop sound of whistles and girl's cheering/screaming - the smell of swass in the building that increases as the tournament progresses...

2025 January

Start the year off with two volleyball tournaments for Leila. The picture below is of her and Isa, the only 14-year-olds on their U16 team.  Fires are destroying parts of California, the Palisade area experiencing the worst of it. Texas and some of the southern states are experiencing some of the worst snow/ice conditions. TikTok is on the verge of being banned, President Trump is continuously passing executive orders that are sending people into panic.  Saleima made a list of the disasters and warned us that Jesus was on His way.  Sefa moved up to the Teachers quorum and was ordained by his Dad, Uncle Dennis, and Uncle Ben. He's growing so quickly and I love seeing his growth. They have a great group of young men. I love that they are old enough to plan activities, including attending the temple to do Baptism.  Sefa's also starting U15 7v7 pylons with coach Matt Manuma.
