June Happenings (first half)
JUNE 6 (Mon)- Uso Strong/ UPLift Foundation
A while back Rooci had donated shirts to the Uso Strong/UpLift Foundation. Uso Strong is a kalapu up in Salt Lake county headed by the Brown brothers- Manaia, Pani, and Junior. They started a non profit organization called the UpLift Foundation to help Polynesian youth succeed through athletics, academics, and the performing arts. Their goals and programs align perfectly with what Rooci stands for so we were more than happy to sponsor.
UpLift put together different aged basketball club teams and entered them in several tourneys and leagues. Playing club sports is VERY expensive. Most Poly kids miss the opportunity to play clubs because of the costs. There are club fees, tournament fees, fees for fees, etc. It gets expensive. UpLift Foundation made it possible for these Polynesian kids to play club ball for FREE. Not only do they have the kids focus on athletics, they also get them involved in projects; like when they made gift baskets and thank you signs and gave it to a group of nurses to show appreciation for they service.
We went to their end of the year BBQ/Award Ceremony where they gave out prizes to the kids who maintained a 3.0+ GPA. It was so cool to see everyone involved and supporting the youth. There needs to be more Polynesians doing these type of things in the community.
This was their first year doing this so I'm sure they will get better and better each year. I know they plan to expand to more sports such as volleyball and softball. But big ups to Uso Strong and UpLift for all their hard work and dedication. All good things!
JUNE 7 (Tues)- Rooci CLC Licensing
They got approved!!! Woohoo! Rooci is approved to do collegiate apparel for Utah and BYU. This is huge! I wish I had reaction shots for when they found out but oh well....these will do. They have been waiting for their application to get approved for quite some time. They got in "trouble" for selling the Utes and BYU clothing last year(oops) without a license but that was easily fixed. Luckily Aljay and Joe had already met with the buyers at BYU and the U so they figured the schools wouldn't penalize them and the CLC required only a small royalty fee YAY! So things are moving forward. They are excited and have a lot of work ahead of them.
JUNE 11 (Sat)- Orem City Festival(and our Wedding Anniversary but we totally forgot about it)

June 12(Sun)- Kaelin's In Town!
My niece Kaelin flew in for a Young Musician's camp at BYU. I picked her up from the airport, went to eat, and then took her to BYU. I'm not familiar with BYU campus so we went on a bit of an adventure lol. It was so fun getting to hang out with her, getting lost, getting her checked in, and all settled in the dorms. I was having all these visions in my head about having to do this one day with Leila....omg.I made sure to get pics of everything we did to send to her Mom because hello this is her baby girl and I'm sure she was more nervous than Kaelin. I made sure to call her and reassure that she is A-OKay!
And while we were out and about, I got a msg from Sui saying 'congratulations on your anniversary!' At first I was like.....'mmmm wait what is she talking about? oh maybe she msgd the wrong person'....then I asked Kaelin what the date was and then it hit me! WE FORGOT OUR ANNIVERSARY!!!!! SO I called up Aljay and we both just started laughing. *sigh* We are getting old. So we'll just pretend like we meant to go to the festival the day before to celebrate our anniversary! lol sike we'll do something soon.
