  1. He loves shopping way more than I do. He is particularly fond of shoes, shirts, hats, and shades. 
  2. He doesn't enjoy washing dishes. 
  3. His favorite color is black.
  4. He likes his calves.
  5. He loves sushi. 
  6. He loves to listen to G funk, island reggae, west coast rap, hip hop, r&b and Hawaiian music.

  8. He hates ice skating.
  9. He loves to dance. 
  10. He is very ticklish. Don't tickle him though, it's dangerous. 
  11. He has really good eyesight. 
  12. In college his favorite combos from 7-11 were musubi+sour cream potato chips or  spicy saimin bowl+pork hash/viena sausage and always with an Arizona. 
  13. He can run really fast.
  14. He loves a shiny clean car, but mostly shiny clean tires. 
  15. He is a youtube self-certified DIY mechanic. 
  16. He is a bomb chef.
  17. He's really good at making Poly dance costumes...especially tuigas. He's like an old Samoan lady at heart.
  18. One if his pet peeves is poorly cooked rice. Don't ever give him under-cooked, overcooked, long grain, or brown rice (unless he's trying to be healthy) #stickyrice #shortgrain #calrose #whiterice#ricenazi 
  19. He loves to BBQ and is very proud of his marinade. 
  20. He has small hands. They are the same size as mine....just more muscle-ey.
  21. He loves watching movies...and always action, adventure, thriller types

  23. He likes spicy food but sometimes (a lot of the times) goes overboard 
  24. He is a decent tennis player.
  25. He is flat footed.

  28. If you know him, you've probably heard him say "you know what you should do", or "you know what would be mean", or "you know what I'm gonna do one day"...
  29. He never stops dreaming

And we love him for these 31 reasons and more!!!

Birthday Weekend

So when it comes to birthdays we (meaning him and I) have a habit of planning each other's birthdays the way we would like to celebrate our own birthdays.

  So for example- last year for his 30th we were in Hawaii for Ben's wedding. I made him start the morning with a tempe sesh, then poke from the superette, then beach, and then we had Ben and Nina's dance in the evening. [Totally my kind of day] Then for my birthday last year he did a surprise bbq with all our close friends lol (totally him).

This year I decided to just let him take the lead, even though I'm sure he would of liked a bit more effort on my part #wifefail #goodthingbirthdaysareannual, But he had fun.

We started off on Friday night (5/20) with dinner at one of our favorite places to eat- Cheesecake Factory. Yummmm.

Then on Saturday (his actual birthday 5/21) I let him sleep in alllllll morning. When I finally decided to just wake him up, we had lunch, gave him a pedicure, went out for frozen yogurt, and then he went to his "surprise" party that his boys threw for him lol. It wasn't even a surprise but they just kept calling it that lol.

We never did cake and ice cream for him on either days so we figured we'd just do that on Sunday. But when Sunday rolled through we ended up inviting two families to our house for to'ona'i and totally forgot the whole cake and ice cream bit until everyone left and after we cleaned up. So we just lit the candles and sang happy birthday for the kids sake (they look forward to it more than anyone else lol). They didn't even want to eat the cake because it had the German chocolate frosting lol. So it was literally light candles, sing birthday song, blow out candles, lotu, and go to bed.

Hopefully next year I will be better at planning his birthday lol Until then......

Start the year off with two volleyball tournaments for Leila. The picture below is of her and Isa, the only 14-year-olds on their U16 team.  Fires are destroying parts of California, the Palisade area experiencing the worst of it. Texas and some of the southern states are experiencing some of the worst snow/ice conditions. He's growing so quickly and I love seeing his growth. They have a great group of young men. Being Prepared For These Times

Auuuu that title sounds like I'm trying to write a General Conference talk or something hahaha. Probably still on the GC vibe from the beginning of the month lol. Anyways... So this pandemic that's going on, it's been something else! It has put the whole world on lock down. So many lives have been affected. I've written quite a bit in my journal, but I wanted to make sure to write about how the Lord has prepared our family specifically for this time. Looking back just in February and March, we can easily see how the Lord had orchestrated parts of our lives.  In February Aljay secured an art collector who commissioned several art pieces. His deposit was the cushion that brought a sense of financial security when we entered this lock-down life.  Towards the end of February, my bosses had heard about school closures in Seattle and decided that we should have a plan in place for our advisers to work remotely in case the schools had to close. 2025 February

Leila - Volleyball and more Volleyball  Leila had two tournaments in February. This club season has challenged her in a good way. She wants to play the outside hitter position but is playing on a 16s team (meaning older girls with more experience) and is sitting in the 3rd spot for out side hitting. To get to the 1 or 2 spot she needs more reps, more practice, and more individual coaching. We're seeing improvements each week, but are planning to set aside money for her to do more 1:1 coaching.  These tournaments are no joke. They are allllll day. 6am - 7pm sometimes. 1-day, 2-day, and sometimes 3-day tourneys. The mental stamina it takes as a parent ahahahahh is a real thing! Trying to say the right things to keep your athlete focused, motivated, and locked in is tough. There are so many things that are over stimulating or compounding: - the non stop sound of whistles and girl's cheering/screaming - the smell of swass in the building that increases as the tournament progresses...
