Last Half of June
JUNE 13-16: Aloha Flips Inc.
The Militia boys took their first project as Aloha Flips Inc.

Backstory:
So the Militia is a kalapu that Aljay and Lahvjal and Joe are a part of. Their whole focus and goal is to help Polynesian families in the community and ultimately hold events that supported the needs of the community. The group started off with just three members Benzo, Frank, and Lloyd, and it was just the three of them for a long time. Then Aljay joined and naturally the whole Rooci team. There's other guys too like Tali, Benson, Red, Renzo, and Uncle Leroy. It's a good group of good guys who want to do good things. They first did a fundraiser and gave all the proceeds to Aunty Lani Pili, who is battling cancer. It was only advertised as plate sale so her family, as well as Aunty Lani, was super surprised when they were presented the money. Then they catered an event and the people at the event really loved their food....so they've decided to take on catering gigs to bring in more $$ for the kalapu lol. Then they also started a side business where the goal is to start flipping houses.....and we continue on with our story...
Since Tali knows how to build houses, fix stuff, renovate, and all that Bob-the-Builder type stuff (I think he's a foreman?) he is the one bidding for jobs and then uses the jobs to teach everyone how to do everything. Their first job was Aunty Wendy's house (which they found out is actually going to be Futi and Tumua's house). It was a good first project for everyone to get familiar with flooring. So the money from these job goes to everyone who worked and a portion goes to the main kalapu account. They want to build their account to the point where they can buy and flip houses. Hence the name Aloha Flips Inc. Yes it is quite a venture, but they are so excited and pumped. Lots of hard work ahead but it'll all pay off. I'm glad Aljay gets to learn a new trade. Now we won't be so lost when we renovate our house!
Here's a before and after of just a portion of the flooring. They also did the kitchen tiles and entryway.
JUNE 18: Plate Sale
Yes another one....maybe the last (wishful thinking)...maybe not. I dunno.
Oh and yes I did make Toa "model" the food since I asked for a model and he jumped up and volunteered. #iwasntplaying
Anyways... so we've done this enough times for us to know who does what. This usually means that I cook all the sides, Aljay does the meats and otai, and we both do the prep.
Don't ask me why we always do otai, but Aljay always pushes for it. But this time Aljay finally trusted me to make the otai (without him by my side or watching over my shoulder to make sure I do everything to his liking....waaaaaatmasterchef???).....and can I just say is I NAILED IT! OMG. I dunno why...but the otai was soooooooo good. Maybe cause it was a hot day. Or maybe it was because I was feeling all "Pinteresty" and drank it out of a mason jar with a lemon slice. But either way, MY HUSBAND said it was really good. I translate that as him saying directly to me "your otai is better than mine" hahahahha. YES! I mean it's not a competition but I'm taking the win. #toottoot
JUNE 19: Father's Day
Sunday- we started off the morning with Aljay having breakfast in bed and then after church a nice dinner. We were still feeling the otai from the day before so we made some more- this time mango. SOOOOOOO good and refreshing but then we weren't even hungry by the time all the food was ready. It's all good. We had a nice cruise Sunday. Good food. Good Daddy. Good family. Good night.
JUNE 20 : Lafai and Fatu

We didn't even know these two were coming up to BYU for a rugby camp. It was a nice surprise when Uncle Mia knocked on our door and I walked outside to see Lafai and Fatu. So grown these boys! What the heck! Feeling like Aunty status already.
JUNE 22: Blessings!
So we've been saving for our family reunion that is happening next month. Our biggest expense and stress has been our car because we have to get it all fixed up for the long trip. We were able to afford the brake pads, shocks, and rotors. We wouldn't have to pay for labor since Aljay could do everything himself, but we were unsure of how we were going to pay for new tires since all four tires needed to be replaced. That's easily $400+ just for the tires alone.
Then Uncle Leroy (Big Buddha) was working in Orem and decided he'd stop by and say hi. We had a good chat with him before he has to head off to his assignment. He asked us what we were doing today and Aljay told him that we had to go look for some cheap tires. He brought up this place he goes to for tires and Aljay went to check it out later in the day and OMG we got all four tires replaced and mounted for $200. The place Aljay went to sells used tires and they said they didn't have our tire sizes, but luckily they let Aljay look in their warehouse and he found tires that fit and talked the guy down to a great deal (thank goodness he knows tires from his tire mechanic job he had when we first moved out here). He got goodyear tires (it's a good brand) that were practically new and in very good condition. Altogether our car repairs were under $400- 4 tires, shocks, brakes, rotors. That is God blessing us NO DOUBT.
When Aljay came home and told me how much he got the tires for I immediately ran outside to inspect each one (iooeeeeee cuz when I was a mechanic)....anyways....I ran back in and the first thing I said was "THAT IS GOD!That is GOD bah-lessing us!"
And now I feel so much better about our family reunion road trip :) The hard part is done.

JUNE 24: Blessings continue with ROOCI
Rooci had been approved for licensing and the next step was to submit designs for approval. The CLC has to approve the designs as well as the schools. Aljay had to use the approved logos and formats, which he was given access to. They first submitted all their BYU designs and the first design they submitted was denied immediately because they don't allow designs in the circle (the Y with the circle around it). But everything else was approved. So Aljay was kind of bummed but he just redid the design and everything was approved! Then they waited a little longer for the U to approve designs (which they did). Buuuuut the coolest thing is that the lady who is the buyer for BYU (who Aljay and Joe had met with before) said she wants to order already!!! And then Joe said the buyer from the U loved the designs and was so excited that he put in a good word to all the U vendors to look out for our stuff coming this season! He also gave a list of those vendors to Joe. How exciting!!! They are almost done with the paperwork and then they'll be done and officially licensed!!! The deadline for everything to be done and 100% complete is just before we leave to my family reunion. Exciting stuff!
