JUNE- Summer Lovin!!!
We bin lovvviinnnn this summa summa!!!
There's no doubt that this is the best Utah summer we've had so far!
Last summer hangups...
- I was recovering from a C-section (c section recovery sucks! for everyone!)
- Aljay injured his back at work
- We had no AC
- We were financially recuperating from the Tafiti family reunion #broke#majorbudgetcuts
Summer before that...
- We just moved and were adjusting to Utah and it's dry heat
- Job searching
- Very limited in finances
(oh hey look at that! We've officially been in Utah for 2 years! #survivors)
THIS SUMMER THO.....
So let's hit the rewind button and backtrack to the highlights of June!
May 30- Blaine's Wedding
*okay so just a little further back to May
We were able to attend the wedding of Blaine and Amber Loar. Aljay baptized Blaine while he was on his mission and grew really close to his family. Blaine ended up serving a mission in the D.C. area. When Aljay and I went to DC for Christmas (2009) we kept an eye out for him, but had no luck finding him. It was a sweet reunion for Aljay to see Blaine and his family and it was super cool for me to finally meet this sweet family that Aljay told me so much about. What beautiful blessings the Gospel brings.
Here in Utah there are a bunch of carnivals, fairs/carnivals, and celebrations to enjoy during the summer. We missed the Orem City Parade and Carnival, but we were able to catch the Strawberry Days Fair in Pleasant Grove (neighboring town). We just took the kids on rides. We had fun watching the kids have fun!
JUNE 21st- FATHER's DAY
This segment is dedicated to the guy who gave me his heart and then gave me three more.
(awoiya...that's a good line...shouldve written that on in the ghetto Father's day card I made for him)
- We started the morning with breakfast in bed.
- Eggs benedict (thought I'd try something new lol...never had it before but it was yum)
- Mango
- Koko rice
- Link Sausage
- Followed by Church :)
- I didn't make him a lei because I didn't want him to melt the chocolate and stain his shirt (forreals tho). Instead I made him a ghetto handcrafted card and gave him some candy snacks for Church.
- After church he slept while Leila and I made lunch/dinner
- Oysters
- Cream cheese rangoons
- Tery Beef Brisket
- Roasted veggies- summer squash, zucchinni, carrots
- Garlic mashed potatoes
I struggle to find unique ways to make Father's day more special and memorable. I strive everyday to acknowledge Aljay's hard work, be uplifting and supportive, have meaningful and fun conversations, express my love and appreciation, and let him know how great of a Husband and Father he is....every day. So when Father's day rolls around it is usually celebrated with special foods. Sometimes gifts but not really.
I love my baby's daddy tho! My forever companion! The guy that makes us laugh, cringe, smile, cry...who protects us, solves problems (causes problems), works hard so that we can live comfortably, puts us first, and loves us unconditionally. Our fearless leader, biggest cheerleader, worthy Priesthood holder-
ALJAY aka Leila/Sefa/Viiga's Dad
And Happy Father's Day to all the amazing Dad's out there!
Joe Fa'amuli, Viiga Fuimaono, Dan Malupo, Jay Iafeta, Ah Chu Fuimaono
And all the future Dads!
Lahvjal Fuimaono, Ben Fuimaono, Tui Fa'amuli
(omg that's weird to think of Tui as a "future Dad" lol #reality #futureisnear #iamold)
| My little travel buddy |
We ended the month with Viiga and I making a quick trip to Maryland for my brother's Homecoming! We weren't there for when he arrived in Maryland (Tues 23rd) but we were able to hear him speak at Church and celebrate at his to'ona'i on Sunday. All my siblings were there including all the grandkids (besides Leila and Sefa) and Jay (way to represent all the inlaws lol).
Besides feeling super old, I was sooo super proud of him! He is the first LDS missionary on our Fa'amuli side of the family (my Dad's family). He served in the Glibert Arizona Mission and returned with honor!
Being able to see his spiritual growth now match his large physical stature was humbling. He left unsure, doubting his abilities, and questioning if he was "spiritual enough" to serve. He returned with a solid testimony of the Savior, His atonement, and His gospel. He returned with a heart willing to serve, a mouth ceasing to complain, and true confidence in himself and in the Lord's power. #proudsister #majorly #spiritualgiant
He still has the same sense of humor. Still wears the same shades. Still likes to workout. Still enjoys scifi/action/comedy movies. He went to watch Jurassic World with Jay and Filipo and LOVED IT. We're so related. He is still the same Tui. Just a little more mature, a lot less judgmental, a lot more helpful, a lot more smiley, and heaps and heaps of friendlierness (it's a word I swear).
So what is he up to now?
Short-term: get his drivers license, get a job,
Long-term: Go to school, get married, all that post-mish goodness
| Sums up their relationship lol |
We spent out last day at the splash pad in Rockville City Center.
June was fun!
