We're on the MOVE!!!!

Cheeehoooo! So here's our adventurous move to UTAH!!

DAY 1 (Wed-June 26)

5:00 AM   We were on our way to the airport.

~We are flying on standby tickets. Yes..during the summer. Yes...with two toddlers. Yes...it was a bad idea lol.

6:30  AM   We said our "final goodbyes".

~When you're flying standbye you never really know for sure if that is your last time, so it was kind of an unsure goodbye. Still sad though. Leaving home is never easy.

8:00 AM  Leai make it the flight. All the flights were overbooked.

2:00 PM  Leai make it on the next flight.

~So we called up Aunty Tiare and  headed back to Laie and decided to try for the evening flight. Which ends up being overbooked also. Boo. So we decided to head back to Laie and try for Friday.

Kids
  • Both did pretty well despite their constant need to run into the stores and touch eeeeerryything.
  • Leila was disappointed that we didn't get on an airplane.
  • Sefa couldn't care less as long as he was fed.
  • They kept themselves occupied by running everywhere and pushing the cart around.
  • Overall they did well.

Parents-
  • doing alright...until we realize that our car may be there waiting for us and if we can't get on a flight, we may have to pay for storage fees. No bueno.
  • Started praying even harder for a miracle

MOVING TIP #1: When relocation requires an airplane ticket...Don't go on standbye...Just DONT.
Buy the dangnaminshammilammin ticket.

DAY 2 (Thurs-June 27)

8:00 AM   Kids are up eating cinnamon rolls that Fatu made.
8:30 AM   Kids are changed and already at the beach swimming.
9:30 AM   Kids are dried off and ready to eat again.

~Cycle repeats about two more times throughout the day.

10:00 AM  The miracle we'd prayed for arrives.

~Dad called and told us to give him a call if we can't get on the flight. So we call and check with Uncle Si'u and decided it would be best to just cancel the tickets and pay full fare.  We didn't wan't to chance it again on Friday. Then I called my Dad back and within 20 minutes, tickets were found, purchased, and we were flying out that night....on confirmed tickets.

~The kids spent the rest of the day swimming, eating, and sleeping.

5:00 PM We say our final goodbyes.

~We gave our last hugs and kisses to our family and loaded into Aunty Janeens car. The kids were exhausted from swimming all day and us parents were trying to wrap our heads around the fact that we were moving.

9:45 PM We were finally off the ground and in the air. No turning back now.

Kids-

  • Were exhausted and fell asleep within the first hour of flight
  • Both did really well throughout the flight.

Parents-

  • We each had a kid to keep our minds occupied and busy. However, we both shared the same feeling of sadness and excitement.
  • I held on to Iosefa and cuddled him like he was my security blanket.
  • Aljay had Leila wrapped in a blanket all cozy'd up by his side.
  • We both had the look like "Well here goes! Can't turn back now!"
