Keiki Update
It has been a while since I've done one of these and boy have the kids grown.
Let's start with Leila...
My oh my is this child coming of age.
- She shaved her legs. Even though Me and Britt tried to warn her that it's going to be a reoccurring event and not a shave once and done type of thing...fiapotz.
- She has been asking for a phone because she's the only one that doesn't have one in her class. I'm looking to get a Gabb watch so they can contact us if anything happens while they are at school. I'm not sure about a phone yet.
- Her feet are bigger than mine and she often steels Britt's shoes.
- She swears she wants to work and save money but she is asking for Swig/ice cream almost every day.
- She also swears she is a good driver and asks to drive every chance she can. But ummmm Aljay takes her driving and she even drove to her friend's house down the street. What the heck!!!!
- She has a few friends from school that she likes to hang out with. She is quickly learning that in a Samoan household you need to clean something in exchange for your absence hahaha.
- She's still such a crack up, sometimes a bully to he siblings, and low key turning into a teen.
Next up is the other growing child and Leila's bestie-- Sefa.
- He's a crack up.
- He tied a bunch of blankets and lavalavas together to make a swing and has learned how to do aerial tricks. I was worried at first but low key impressed with his moves! But I've had to sit all the kids down and talk to them about safety precautions and what can happen if there is no parent around.
- Mr. Flexible -- will do his stretches/contortion poses all the random time.
- Him and Saleima are very similar.
- He is the best baby sitter I have. Saleima is a close 2nd.
- He's also the best cleaner. Saleima is a close 2nd.
- He's naturally very athletic. Saleima as well.
- He is smart and funny.
- He's the kid that looks at you dead on while you're talking, then asks right after "wait what are we doing?" hahahaha...but he is the best at getting things done so I don't mind.
- He has a tender heart and is very sensitive to my feelings.
- He makes the most annoyingly funny high pitch happy scream when he gets super excited...with the facials to go with it.
- Him and Leila are obsessed with scary movies because Aunty Penny is a scary movie lover.
On to the next Kid-- Viiga
- Our clever kid who always has something to say.
- We're working with him to recognize when it is the right time and place for certain conversations.
- We're also trying to help him understand why somethings, even if it might be true, can be hurtful and rude. So...empathy I guess.
- He still hates doing chores and would love to spend the day playing video games. We've threatened to pack his bags and let him go live elsewhere a few times this month and each time we get closer and closer to it hahahah
- Monday threats -- You want to go live with your friends where you don't have to do chores? *Viiga crying*
- Tuesday threats -- You really want to live somewhere else huh? Go get your bags!!! *Viiga: Crying hysterically
- Wednesday threats -- Aljay tells Sefa to go get the suitcase. Suitcase is brought and Aljay walks Viiga to the door with the suitcase in hand.
*Viiga: Crying hysterically and refusing to go - Thursday - Viiga: Can you come check my chores please?
- Repeat cycle at least 3 times a month for full Viiga effect.
- Seriously though....we have to figure out something that works for him. He really is the hard case when it comes to helping with the chores.
- He really wants to play football and we're hoping to get him into a spring league.
- He's still a goof and loves video games.
- He's still learning to work through his big emotions. He's getting better :)
- Even though he is the worst chore doer and has his crybaby moments, we cannot live without him. He is ours and it wouldn't be our family without him.
And now our Saleima
- Our sweet girl with the spunky personality.
- She's lost a few teeth and now has the cute combination of baby teeth and adult teeth lol. So she does the no teeth smile often lol.
- Her current favorite hairstyle is a side ponytail and wearing bows.
- She is excellent when it comes to getting ready for school. She'll prep her clothes, bag, shoes/socks, and water bottle.
- She is a crack up.
- Like Sefa, she is quite athletic and loves to play soccer.
- She is still very much a cuddle bug and loves when we give her hugs.
- She seems so grown now that she walks home with the big kids from school. She'll be turning 6 pretty soon.
- She is a pretty sweet kid with a side of crazy.
- She loves school and is always excited to come home and share everything she learns.
and now the two non-schooling monkies!!!
Metuli - little beastie
- This little beastie has turned into quite a chatter box. She talks so much now!
- She's Brittany's new best frienemy and always refers to her as "Best Friend"....i.e. "Hi bes fwen! You finish work?" "Oh I'm gonna go sleep in me and bes fwens room" Everything is "bes fwen"
- She has transitioned to sleeping in the room with the big girls! Buuuut when she is tired of her sisters (which is most nights) she sleeps in Aunty Brittany's room. They are now roommates.
- She is so funny.
- She loves to talk story with her grandparents.
- She loves to help in the kitchen and is actually the best helper when it comes to making keke pua'a.
- She loves going to nursery now and does so well with Salani in there as well.
- My favorite things is when she wakes up in the morning and comes downstairs -- "Hi Mom! Goodmorning! I'm so pretty!"
and now finally...
Salani - blessed angel child
- This child can do no wrong.
- She's cute, she's the baby, and her happiness is everyone's priority.
- She loves Cocomelon and Pinkfong. I can put those shows on and actually get a few things done.
- Vocab - Mama, Dada, me, nose, hi, door, eat, nana (banana), please (peez), susu (shushu)
- This is the longest I've ever breastfed any of the kids. I'm trying to wean but something about her being the last baby makes me want to hold on to her as a baby for as long as I can. And then sometimes I just want to get her used to a bottle.
- She is little but her personality is starting to blossom.
- She is starting to find her voice and we all thing it's the cutest thing. Even when she is being a brat or loud.
- She loves singing and dancing babyshark.
- I'm probably raising a spoiled monster baby shark buuuuuttt.....we'll just have to deal cuz we love this kid too dang much!
We love our tribe and it's always a crackup when we're just hanging out. They say and do the funniest things and we're so excited to take them to Disneyland this year.
