Family Happenings, Tana's Baptism, Valentines

Full Time Position
I've been hoping to secure a full time position at UVU since I've started as a part timer (almost 6 months ago). At the end of January I found out that a position in my department was going to open! Lais (who is my colleague and mentor) has applied and accepted a position in a different department at UVU. Now we are in the talks of transitioning me into her spot. I would now be full-time and working with underrepresented populations that include Pacific Islander, Latino, Native American, First Generation, LGBTQ, etc....I'm so excited and terrified at the same time.

There are moments at work where I feel like I've got a good handle on things and then there are moments where I just feel so inadequate and under qualified (I tend to have more of these moments than the other). That's usually when I feel the strong urge to go back to school. *sigh* pretty soon...pretty soon But I do enjoy learning from all the brilliant people that I meet.

We consider it all blessings. Blessing from above. No doubt.

Valentines Extravaganza
So you remember my new years resolution of putting more effort into Special Occassions? Yes. Well this is my attempt for Valentines.

FRIDAY- We made brownies, had movie night, and the kids got to pick one person to make a Valentine's Card for. And by "kids" I really mean just Leila. Sefa was down for the activity until the movie started lol. So Leila made a card for Aunty Penny.

SATURDAY- We took the kids to get little Valentines things for their classes and gave the card to Uncle Vjal to give to Aunty Penny. Uncle Mia and Dane stopped by for visit so we just had a nice dinner and let the kids play with their Uncle Dane lol. He's 2 years old.

SUNDAY- We finally went and took some FAMILY PHOTOS!!! These were our first "official" family photos with Saleima. Lahvjal had rented a camera over the weekend to do a Rooci photo shoot so we took advantage of the opportunity up the challenge.
family photos = challenge

[pics coming soon...or whenever Vjal gets them to us]

Anyways....Sunday was also our CHEAT DAY! After the photo shoot we went home and feasted on cookies, chip and dip, and taquitos.#dietagainonMonday

MONDAY- our FHE activity was to help our block clean the chapel...das all. lol Oh wait no...I did a Valentine-ish FHE lesson on how good words helps us fill our hearts (thanks Pinterest).

TUES- I switched my day off so I could spend the day getting things done at home and prep for a nice Valentines evening. We ended up doing laundry, picking up free building materials, and visiting the Afele's. We didn't get home until 8 and then had a steak and shrimp dinner at 8:30pm. Aljay and I were going to have a movie night at home...but we crashed. #bubbogum #oldfutstatus

WED- Aljay and I went out to dinner. Kind of. I was presenting in a conference so all the presenters got to have dinner and meet. It was a really nice evening though for both of us. So I'm counting it as part of our Valentine's extravaganza lol.  Vjal and everyone's favorite Auntttyyy Peennnaaayyyy came over to watch the kids.

Family Things

Iutana's Baptism (Feb 4)

We had the pleasure of attending Iutana's baptism. Aljay was a witness and stood in the circle for Tana's confirmation.  I can't get over how fast time flies. I heard someone say, the days are long but the years are short...or something like that. No truer words have ever been spoken. We are so proud of this young man and all that he has become in the short 8 years of his life.

Few things about Iutana:
  1. He loves sushi
  2. He loves football
  3. He loves musubi
  4. His favorite color is blue
  5. He loves his Family

Our stake does stake baptisms once a month for our primary children, so we got to visit with some of the other kids that were getting baptized. After Iutana's program was done, we got to eat at the combined eating for Hunter Moeai (Josh and Sene's son) and Ephraim Perez (Daniel and Marvel's son). Okay but the oka and taro was winning my life. I would've killed the desserts but Aljay was keeping me in check.lol

Nesi and Pei's  Wedding (Feb 4)

We went home and rested after the baptism and then made our way to Nesi and Pei's wedding reception. The reception was so fun. The DJ was craaacccckkup! He straight up cut the tauolunga numbers to less than a minute each....and it wasn't even like he faded the music out...he used that DJ warping sound to mix in a modern pop song and then Cuuuuuttttt.....we were cracking up each time. Plus there were two DJ's so it was double the funny. Hey but it sure helped get through alllllll the tauolungas. Das how.

Nesi and Pei looked beautiful, happy, a little hungry, overwhelmed with emotion...you know...all that stuff that comes with wedding celebrations.

We also got to catch up with a few familiar faces.  Forgot to get pics of them, but we did also see Ray Havea, Tabitha Leiataua, Margaret, Krystal, and Teni.
