JUNE 13-16: Aloha Flips Inc.  The Militia boys took their first project as Aloha Flips Inc.   Backstory: So the Militia is a kalapu that Aljay and Lahvjal and Joe are a part of. Their whole focus and goal is to help Polynesian families in the community and ultimately hold events that supported the needs of the community.  The group started off with just three members Benzo, Frank, and Lloyd, and it was just the three of them for a long time. Then Aljay joined and naturally the whole Rooci team. There's other guys too like Tali, Benson, Red, Renzo, and Uncle Leroy. It's a good group of good guys who want to do good things. They first did a fundraiser and gave all the proceeds to Aunty Lani Pili, who is battling cancer. It was only advertised as plate sale so her family, as well as Aunty Lani, was super surprised when they were presented the money. Then they catered an event and the people at the event really loved their food....so they've decided to take on catering g...

June Happenings (first half)

JUNE 6 (Mon)- Uso Strong/ UPLift Foundation A while back Rooci had donated shirts to the Uso Strong/UpLift Foundation. Uso Strong is a kalapu up in Salt Lake county headed by the Brown brothers- Manaia, Pani, and Junior. They started a non profit organization called the UpLift Foundation to help Polynesian youth succeed through athletics, academics, and the performing arts.  Their goals and programs align perfectly with what Rooci stands for so we were more than happy to sponsor.  UpLift put together different aged basketball club teams and entered them in several tourneys and leagues. Playing club sports is VERY expensive. Most Poly kids miss the opportunity to play clubs because of the costs. There are club fees, tournament fees, fees for fees, etc. It gets expensive. UpLift Foundation made it possible for these Polynesian kids to play club ball for FREE . Not only do they have the kids focus on athletics, they also get them involved in projects; like when they mad...

1st half of May

oka I'm all over the place with my posts lol....anyways....rewinding back yet again.... May 8- Mother's Day The kids really made my Mother's Day. During the week they surprised me and cleaned their room without being told. I was in our room next door listening to their conversation... Sefa: We can make the room sooooo clean for Mom! She will love it! Leila: Yeah and she can be sooooo surprised! Then I got some sweet gifts from the school kids. Sefa made a keychain at school and Leila dedicated a page in her autobiography to me. lol So cute! On Sunday we kept to our traditions of breakfast in bed and lunch/dinner after church. I let Aljay know exactly what I wanted to eat lol. Veggie omelette and sausage links for breaky and something light and healthy for lunch. He made a yummy salad and salmon. Well done babe. We've never done gifts (which I am more than fine with) but I told Aljay I that I did want three things: (1) He gets all the children ready for ...

Last Half of May

May 23-26 (Mon-Ths)- Last Week of School  The previous week Sefa's preschool class had a preschool celebration. Aljay went and came back so proud and excited to share with me that Sefa had received the "All Around Guy" award. So cute! But this last week of school okaaaa. Their schedule was different almost every day so I had to look and double look and triple check this yellow piece of paper every day to make sure we were at all their events. On one of their days they had a dance festival thing. It's kind of like May Day in Hawaii but not as intense. We got there just as the second grader's were finished. I was so sad cause I really wanted to watch Leila do her dance that she had showed me a million times over lol. We did get to see her accept her award for Geneva Giant of the Year for her class. #proudparentmoment And like any good parent we decided to not mention that we didn't get to see her dance and just celebrate her award. #iknowiknow #badparen...
