Summer 2024
Well.. March-April-May all happened lol
So many good things.....that I know I don't have the energy to go back and record lol.
But we're picking back up again for this summer....
JUNE
1. Sefa went to his first football camp at BYU.
2. Our stake split.
We stayed as Orem Utah 2nd Tongan Stake. The other stake is now Lehi 3rd Tongan Stake. We now have 3 Tongan stakes in Utah County. Blessings!
3. We celebrated our 15-year Anniversary at Disneyland!
4. Leila went to Stake Young Women's Camp
As always, the young women had so much fun and were well-fed. Leila loved getting closer to all the young women in the ward and being out in nature. They camped in cabins in Heber. Nature is always so good for the soul. We're so grateful for wonderful leaders who work so hard for our girls to have experiences that build their testimonies, strengthen their beliefs in their divine identity, and help them know they are loved.
JULY
1. Leila went to her first FSY.
FSY was held at UVU. She stayed in the Gateway housing. Aljay and I were cracking up when we dropped her off. Just the experience of checking her in was giving Aljay flashbacks of the mission. Leila really enjoyed the classes. In her words "the kids are weird but it's been a good experience" lol
Her biggest take away was centered on Prayer and putting the same effort into her testimony as she does with sports.
We missed her so much during that week, especially on the 4th of July.
2. I turned 37!
3. Sefa turned 13 :)
He understood that we would be going to Hawaii a few days after his birthday, but we still wanted to make his birthday special. Aljay took him and Viiga out shopping. Sefa got new cleats for football, new shoes for school, and some new clothes. Aunty Penny and Uncle Vjal took him shopping that weekend for his birthday as well. My boy was feeling drippy in his new gear. He deserves it all!
Sefa is an amazing helper! He does all his chores the quickest with minimal complaints. Plays with the little kids when I need them to be occupied. Helps Leila get her reps in by setting to her in the backyard. He does his best to fulfill his calling as Deacon's president. He learns songs on the piano all by himself.
I just love the kid and we're so proud of him.
4. We took our first family trip to Hawaii since 2015 (that's almost 10 years...holy yakoooooo!) It was pure bliss!
AUG
- Leila tried out for Orem High School Girl's Volleyball and made the Sophomore team (there are 3 teams; Sophomore, JV, Varsity). We're so excited for her!
- Sefa signed up for his age division for youth football. However, he wants to play running back and needs to be 135 lbs. We found out about this a little over 2 weeks before the weigh in date. He was 147 lbs...hoiiiii. So we talked to him about his options; he can either try to make weight so he can play the position he wants to play, or play as a lineman.
He chose to cut weight. I was worried because he already doesn't have much fat on him. But he did his cardio, steam room, diet plan, no sugar, no processed food, boring diet, eating veggies (which he DOES NOT like)......and he! made! weight!
We all supported him as much as possible, even taking late night walks with him around the neighborhood, making low carb/high protein meals, and no eating out. He struggled sometimes, but overall was very disciplined. - Aljay decided back in June that he would coach Sefa's team. Neither one of us wanted a repeat of last years situation (coaching was really bad), so of course Aljay decided to step into it. He has been killing it! He really is an awesome coach.
- Viiga is playing football and will do so well, we already know that. We took him in for a check up and got him an inhaler just in case he needs it. He hasn't been diagnosed with asthma, but the pediatrician said he might need his tonsils removed and referred us to a ear/nose/throat specialist for a better look.
- 3 little Girlies- The rest of our crew are patiently waiting for their turn to get into all the extracurriculars. Sadly, I've missed all the Fall sign ups so I might have to put them into programs at the Rec center. I dunno. Paying for all the kid's things is one thing, and then coordinating the rides to everything is another. We'll see what happens.
- As for Me?! I'm taking advantage of a health and wellness program provided for free through my work insurance. They sent a free scale and blood pressure cuff. I have access to health coaches and my program officially starts Monday 8/19. Lord bless this attempt!
Work is busy. The beginning of the semester is always crazy. Add on top of that all the things for the kids, trying to sort schedules, and do somewhat of a decent job with my church callings. It's going to be a crazy Fall season for sure!
