February Kid's Updates

 

Leila

- this girl is 11 and going through all the things a tween ager girl goes through

- she is forever making her "plastic surgery"/"botox" face and imitating how the Kardashians talk or any annoying people really lol See below for examples of said face. And yes Lani's face is exactly the face we all make when this fool makes her facials. 


- she loves hanging out with her friends Kenzie, Sophi, Nia, and some others. 

- had her first experience of seeing two friends get into a long, drawn-out, pretty lame girl fight (minus actual physical fighting hahaha)....just a precursor of what middle school drama will be like haha

- is still wanting a cell phone (sorry not happening this year)

- also wants a longboard (because her friend has one)

- she's in young women now and has been going to young women's activities every week. She's still pretty shy but I know that will change eventually

- she can be so funny and annoying at times


Sefa

- my dawg!

- I took him out for a breakfast date this month. We followed it up with a quick trip to the car wash for a wash and vacuum. It was nice to just hang out with him. 

- Sefa has always been good at entertaining himself. He can just go to the play space upstairs and build a fort all day. 

- He loves playing Roblox

- He is getting better at not rushing his school work. He got a "speeding" ticket for rushing his math assignment lol

- He is kind and respectful. 

- Always willing to be my dance partner

- Skuxx guy with his hair lol

- For Valentines he had an idea in his head of what he wanted to make for his box and executed it well with minimal help from us. His box turned out great and I wish I took a picture of it. 


Viiga

- aaah Viig...poor guy has had a rough month lol..He found a journal that Leila wrote in a while ago. The entry said things like "everybody hates him! No one likes him because he's so annoying and doesn't listen.....My other brother is the best though." She was refering to Viiga being the one no one likes. Well, he found it, read it, and then cried. I tried my best to comfort him and help Leila realize the impact of her words. 

- Then Valentines came up and Britt did FHE with the kids (while Aljay and I went out on a date). Each kid had to stand up and then everyone said something they love about that sibling. When Viiga got up he quickly said "but they don't even like me!!!" (pointing to Leila and Sefa). Britt did her best to remedy the situation. Those two ding dongs were like "he just gives us such a  hard time!" eeeeeghhh...yes so you can imagine what my month has been like trying to make the very relative Come Follow Me lessons applicable to their lives. 

- it's true he isn't the best at chores or staying on task at school, and can be a big baby at times.....but the kid has a tender heart and does try! He's been more mindful of his efforts and I've seen him make progress. That's all I ask of him. To do his best!

- He's goofy and funny. Never wears a shirt at home. 

- Wears his Grandma's ugg style boots to school and doesn't give a rats about it

- he is so bright but suuuuch a ding dong at times lol 


Saleima

- Not sure who told her scary stories, but recently she's made it a habit to remind us to lock all the doors every night. 

- She wanted to dress up like an old lady for the "100 days of school" but didn't want to look ugly hahahah I tried to help her pick out an outfit but gave up after the multiple refusals. Aunty Brittany to the rescue! She helped her find an outfit she would agree to wear. Then when she went to put powder in her hair to make it look like white hair, Saleima asked in a doubtful tone "umm...is that even going to work?"...hahaha never doubt your Aunty Britt lil gorrrrlll!!!

- She is growing too fast! I need her to stay in the same size clothes for just a little bit longer lol. 

- She loves going to school and is doing really well with letters and reading. It's her numbers she struggles with lol.

- She is definitely the kid that's so particular about things. Knows exactly what she wants and doesn't settle for less! Not a bad quality to have, but can just be tiring sometimes lol. 


Metuli

- this ding dong talks so much

- only wants to be Isabella (from Encanto). *See photo above*  Haaates when her siblings try to convince her to be Mirabel because of her short hair. hahah

- she's still Aunty Brittany's roommate and bestie. Their random dramas crack me up!!
Here's one of their random 2 minute "fights" ahhaah

M: *screaming!!* YOUR'E NOT MY BETH FWEN!!
B: *yelling back* OK Get out of my room!!
M: NO!! I'M YOUR BETH FWEN!!!
B: OK then go to sleep then!!!
M: Okay.
B: What the heck! ....And close the door!
M: *Slams door*
Me downstairs--- hahahaahah

- she always wakes up the next day like nothing ever happened hahaha

 she is a little nuisance when she wants something and we say "no". 

- she is so playful and loves hugs and kisses

- Salani's lil partner in crime


Salani

- this girl loooooves to draw and color. It's a life saver at church! Most of the time I can just give her a marker/crayon/pen and something to write on and she'll sit still for a good 20 minutes. She also will walk around all day with a pen/color in her hand and book. It's cute, but the only problem is that she's marked up so many walls and the blinds eeeeehhhh....but maybe she'll be an artist like her Dad. So I guess it's a small price to pay for greatness hahahaha

- she is crazy. Mento crazy goofy funny. lol all those things wrapped up in a little human. 

- she is slowly adding words to her vocab. Right now she can say almost everyone's names, yes/no, I love you, eat, me. 

- Tuli and Her are the cutest little house destroyers. 

- She loves playing with her siblings and is the cutest thing to watch. 

- This is her year to be potty trained!!! Aaaahhh I can't believe we'll be done with diapers this year!!! We haven't started yet, but I'm very hopeful...*nekminnut watch me not start til she's three. eeeeegh.

Start the year off with two volleyball tournaments for Leila. The picture below is of her and Isa, the only 14-year-olds on their U16 team.  Fires are destroying parts of California, the Palisade area experiencing the worst of it. Texas and some of the southern states are experiencing some of the worst snow/ice conditions. TikTok is on the verge of being banned, President Trump is continuously passing executive orders that are sending people into panic.  Saleima made a list of the disasters and warned us that Jesus was on His way.  Sefa moved up to the Teachers quorum and was ordained by his Dad, Uncle Dennis, and Uncle Ben. He's growing so quickly and I love seeing his growth. They have a great group of young men. I love that they are old enough to plan activities, including attending the temple to do Baptism.  Sefa's also starting U15 7v7 pylons with coach Matt Manuma. Being Prepared For These Times

Auuuu that title sounds like I'm trying to write a General Conference talk or something hahaha. Probably still on the GC vibe from the beginning of the month lol. Anyways... So this pandemic that's going on, it's been something else! It has put the whole world on lock down. So many lives have been affected. I've written quite a bit in my journal, but I wanted to make sure to write about how the Lord has prepared our family specifically for this time. Looking back just in February and March, we can easily see how the Lord had orchestrated parts of our lives.  In February Aljay secured an art collector who commissioned several art pieces. His deposit was the cushion that brought a sense of financial security when we entered this lock-down life.  Towards the end of February, my bosses had heard about school closures in Seattle and decided that we should have a plan in place for our advisers to work remotely in case the schools had to close. 2025 February

Leila - Volleyball and more Volleyball  Leila had two tournaments in February. This club season has challenged her in a good way. She wants to play the outside hitter position but is playing on a 16s team (meaning older girls with more experience) and is sitting in the 3rd spot for out side hitting. To get to the 1 or 2 spot she needs more reps, more practice, and more individual coaching. We're seeing improvements each week, but are planning to set aside money for her to do more 1:1 coaching.  These tournaments are no joke. They are allllll day. 6am - 7pm sometimes. 1-day, 2-day, and sometimes 3-day tourneys. The mental stamina it takes as a parent ahahahahh is a real thing! Trying to say the right things to keep your athlete focused, motivated, and locked in is tough. There are so many things that are over stimulating or compounding: - the non stop sound of whistles and girl's cheering/screaming - the smell of swass in the building that increases as the tournament progresses...
