OCTOBER 2020 | 1st Half

OCT 1 - I pulled out the Christmas tree

I couldn't help myself. I was trying not to jump into the holiday seasons too quickly but then Brittany kept encouraging me and I gave in.

Aljay was so surprised that I was all in the mood to decorate and do crafts. For the past few years Octobers have always been some of the busiest times of the year for me- with travel and night events. This is the first time I don't have that weighing on me. It's a much different type of busy that still allows me to give energy to the things I didn't have energy for in the past.

We took the kids out to the dollar store and got a few Halloween things to do crafts. The kids painted foam pumpkins and decorated the tree. I made a Halloween wreath. Then I was all crafted out hahahah. I'm not a creative/crafty/artsy person so that was a lot for me in one day. LOL I told Aljay not to expect any more creative/artsy/crafty things from me for another month. I've met my quota.

We also spent the following night making treats to give to the neighbors. Aljay wanted to make little critter treats so that's what was made. The kids had fun and the treats turned out so cute.

OCT 3-4 General Conference

ALWAYS SO GOOD!! Everything I need to hear. Always uplifting, chastising, comforting, and enlightening.

OCT 6 - Final Soccer Games for Leila & Sefa

Aljay/Sefa's team finished the season undefeated! They were quite an awesome team to watch. Sefa was most impressive with his natural athletic ability and speed. He averaged 2 goals a game and was so easy to coach.

Aljay, being his extra self, went all out and got his boys medals and goodie bags (in gold lol). We bought all their stuff with the assumption that they boys would win their last game. We told Sefa that if they lost their last game, then they would give their goodie bags to the other team ahahhaha. Luckily, they won their game.

Leila's team did great as well! Their division didn't have as many teams so they ended up playing the same teams 3 times lol. There is one team that was stacked with club soccer players and they dominated their division. Leila's team lost to that team each time they played, but they beat every other team. I loved seeing Leila try something new and enjoy it as much as she did. She's such a strong kid and had the best power kicks out of her team. She started off on goalie, then defense, and then discovered that she really liked playing forward. With her strong kicks she was able to score from afar.

We took the kids out to eat at a buffet to celebrate the end of a good season. *And to also celebrate the good feedback that I received from their teachers during their parent teacher conferences that were on the same day.

OCT 10 - Hiked the Y

This was the final day of our ward's Biggest Winner Challenge. And boy was it a challenge. The hike is only 1.11miles but the elevation  gets up to 6,224ft. The trail is steep and zigzags up the mountain. There are 12 turns to get to the top of the Y. The first two turns are definitely the hardest.

I invited the kids to go and the oldest four gladly volunteered. I double checked with them the night before to make sure they were still up for it. I was certain that I would get a lot of complaining and wining, but to my surprise they were just the opposite! The only "complaining" I got was from Viiga saying 'oh no my precious babies are getting dirty' (referring to his shoes lol). They each took turns carrying the bag that held our water bottles and helping me along the way, especially when I felt like my legs were going to give out. Such troopers! I'm proud of them and of myself.

We started up the mountain at 5:30AM and made it down by 7:30AM. Never doing this hike again hahaha...

All smiles at on the way down :)

What it looks like at the top of the Y at 6:30 AM

After our hike we went home and got ready for the BBQ that Aljay put together for his team and Leila's team. It was a full on day!!! We came home afterwards, cleaned up, and then crashed until dinner time LOL.
