Aljay & Sandra Updates

Aljay and I have been good. We've been super busy, but super blessed. Here's a bit of what we have been and will be up to.

Art Projects
Aljay has some pretty cool projects coming up that he is so excited to get started on and will keep him pretty busy this summer.
  • Mural for Pacific Heritage Academy
It's a charter school for Pacific Islander students up in Salt Lake county. Sheena is the director there and that's how we got into contact. She's always been like family so this was a no brainer.
I'm excited for the official dedication.
Update>> it's actually done, but I'll post the pics after the dedication
  • Pacific Islander Art Festival
We had an inquiry a few months ago to participate in this festival at a library in Salt Lake for Pacific Heritage month. Community engagement is important to me so I said yes to the event lol. Luckily Aljay doesn't have to paint anything new for it. It's more so to showcase Pacific island artist. Event site: https://www.facebook.com/events/2070883306541501/
  • Haretuku Home
He also has another mural that he will be working on afterwards for Moana Haretuku. Moana's family and my family were in the same ward growing up in American Samoa. The mural will be on a wall in Moana's gym. The concept is a Maori war scene. It's gonna be cool.
  • Samoan/Native American piece
There's another client that wants a custom piece for his home. It's going to be a Native American/Samoan inspired piece. The concept is pretty mean and the references Aljay showed me for the piece are really cool. I'm excited for him and I love seeing him get so excited about each projects. Not sure when this one will be scheduled for, but I sure hope it falls into place this year. I would looove to see this concept come to life.
Sandra Stuffs
  • I'm just busy with work, church, and family. Throw on top of that a growing human in my belly and yeah life is keeping me pretty busy.
  • Pregnancy
has been pretty good. I haven't been throwing up too much, just nauseous and sensitive to strong smells. I'm edging into 2nd trimester but I'm still pretty tired and constantly need naps and food.
I had my first visit to the clinic and it looks like my blood pressure is up again. So they are putting me on meds to try keep it down. I don't like being on meds and I hope to work my way off of them. I'm going to be good and do the meds, but I also need to get out more and move. Oh and eat more greens. For the first time, I feel confident that this is going to be our last. My body cannot handle any more. And I really want to play and enjoy the kids. So if I end up having a Csection, I'll get my tubes tied. If by a miracle I have a vaginal birth, Aljay is getting snipped/cut/tied/chopped/seared/whatever it takes to ensure 0% possibility of conception.
  • I might have to go to Hawaii for court. Yeah....so during my trip to Hawaii last October I witnessed a man assault a women on the plane. I was sitting next to him and pulled him off and notified the flight attendant. So I ended up providing a statement to the airlines, the police, and the FBI. Aaaaand months later they call me to let me know that if it goes to trial (whenever that is...they don't know for sure), I will be subpoenaed to testify in court. So they would pay to fly me to Oahu😕

  • Not too long ago we had been talking about moving to American Samoa in a few years to help take care of my parents. That plan is still up in the air. We're not sure what Mom and Dad are wanting to do and where they want to be. They seem to be thriving; more active, less depressed, minds a bit more stimulated, access to healthy organic produce. The last time I talked to my Dad, I told him we would come to Samoa, he said "oh yeah ok, don't come here til you both have your master's".....LOL well alrrightty then..But we'll have to see when we get to Tutuila next year.
  • Yes, we are somehow going to fly 2 adults and 6 kids to American Samoa next year. The cost of the tickets alone are making my head hurt. But it's my Dad's 70th birthday and I figured we will make it happen one way or another.
  • So getting our 2nd degrees are still a plan. Now that I am a full time employee for UofU, I get half tuition benefits. So I'm looking into possibly doing a Master's program in a year or so. If I can get accepted ahahah. Aljay wants to get his Master's as well. Not sure what we are going to get into, but it's a goal since forever. Not sure when or how we'll be able to pay for it buuuuut whatevs...I'm putting this out to the universe and may the universe somehow help make it possible.

In fact this is allllll going out to the universe and may the good positive vibes return somehow. LOL
