#Preggo Update

So after my first Doctor's appointment I was pretty bummed because...

  1. The doctor told me to just plan for a C section
I would much rather do a Vbac. But again...I understand there is worry of a uterine rupture and that I would have to go into labor on my own before the scheduled C section in order for me to have baby vaginally. I think what scares me most is having to get an epidural....thinking of how the last one went makes me really anxious.

  2. Doc also suggested that I get my tubes tied since I would probably have a C section
but again are we still holding on to the C section plan? Anyways..I think my emotional instability kicked in because i was like "yeah I'm confident that this is our last child, I'm so done after this kid".... but then I was also feeling sad about not being able to ever have kids again...EVEN though I know I'm done...must be the hormones lol
  3. I have high blood pressure which could lead to preeclampsia again
Which means I now have to be on meds. And I hate the side effects of the meds that I have to take. I get drowsy and more tired than usual. It's not fun and it's one more thing I have to plan and prep!

So yeah I was pretty bummed and feeling really defeated. But I'm being a good patient and doing what the docs wanted me to do.
  • got my medications
  • ordered more prenatal vitamins
  • got a new blood pressure monitor
(I had one with my last pregnancy but the dang kids found it and broke it...typical)
  • Organized my meds
(made me feel like an old person)

But despite feeling down about it, I'm determined to eat well, become active, and get my blood pressure down! I want to get off my blood pressure pills and feel like I can do that with food (food = medicine) and exercise. Sooo these pregnancy updates are really going to be a journal of my efforts/experiments and the results, as well as keeping pregnancy updates.

OVERARCHING GOALS:

  1. Get off the prescription pills
  2. Do not develop preeclampsia, hypertension, or anything else that could put baby at risk
  3. Have a safe vaginal delivery
  4. Normal blood pressure readings postpartum
  5. Normal blood sugar readings postpartum
So here's where I'm currently sitting...
  • Current Weight: 209 lbs
  • Last Blood Pressure Reading (from the clinic): 140/102
  • Current Prescriptions- for high blood pressure
    • Labetalol
      • 2 pills, 3 times a day
      • but I'm starting with 1 pill, 3X day
      • Side effects - drowsiness, fatigue
    • Low Dose Aspirin (81mg)
      • 1 pill a day
  • Current Supplements - for the baby and me
    • Fish oil - 2 pills a day
    • Prenatal Vitamin - 2 pills a day
  • Current Activity
    • None at the moment
    • Does throwing up count?
ACTION PLAN

  • Diet
    • low sodium/sugar/carbs
    • high veggies, fruits, lean meat
    • limit dairy, processed foods, junks, etc
  • Physical Activity
    • 15 mins a day
  • Mental/Emotional Care
    • 15 mins intentional meditation a day
    • Daily Scripture study & prayer
I'll be tracking this for the next four weeks and then reevaluate. May I move forward towards healthy living and healing with positive vibes, good energy, a ton of determination and discipline.
