May

My homesickness always hits hard in May. This is the time of the year that is so much fun in Hawaii. You have Merrie Monarch, May Days, We Are Samoa, FireKnife Competition, and graduations! So many celebrations, reunions, and gooood food!

Things aren't too bad in Utah though. May for us is busy but also full of things to celebrate like....
  1. Viiga's Birthday!!!
Our lil man turned 5! Birthday post is here >>> https://aljayandsandra.blogspot.com/2019/05/viigas-5th-birthday.html
  2. I  got a new Job!
I actually did the interview via facetime on the last day of the Hawaii trip. I was nervous about it cuz phone/skype type interviews aren't always easy. But I felt good about it and luckily the hiring committee did too :) They offered the job 2 days later. I start June 17th as the UCAC Regional Coordinator. I over see the College Access Advisors in the Utah County region. I'm excited.
  3. Aljay's Birthday! Plus all his projects he has going on :)
He will be very busy this summer and fall getting larger commissioned projects completed and prepping for another show. Not sure where or when his next show will be, but there definitely will be one coming up this Fall. I'll do a separate post about it because there's a lot of good stuff and it deserves it's own post.
  4. The Kids School year comes to an end!!
Yay!!! Summer is almost officially here!

And here's a few more things that have made the Month of May even more exciting :)

May 9-12 | Mother's Day Week

On Thursday the Activity Day girls had a Mother/Daughter Tea where we ate yummy food and listened to each girl read out poems they each wrote about their mothers.

Then on Friday the Elders Quorum put on a Mother's Day dinner for us. It was really nice not having to serve or be in the kitchen. The men took care of everything and honestly I wouldn't mind if they did do more helping out with ward events lol. At this dinner the primary also performed a number they had been practicing.

On Saturday morning I woke up early and spent the morning running errands and then shopping (yeesssss) just by myself (even better). Liz had told me about a sale that was going on in Provo. Thank goodness I went! They had so many nice clothes! I snatched a few items for me and Leila.
Afterwards, Aljay and I took the two older kids and watched End Game. Sooooo goood! The three babies were at Penny and Vjals house.

On Sunday we found out our new ward boundaries. Our stake of 16 wards is finally splitting into two stakes. So we are going to be in Orem 13th (new ward) and we'll find out at Stake Conference the official name of our stake and the newly called stake presidencies.

After church Aljay made me yummy keto friendly lunch and the kids gave me their hand written cards. Then they all let me sleeeeeep. It was a glorious nap and the best way to end a fabulous Mother's Day week.

May 21 - Aljay's Birthday
My hunny turned 34! Woohoo!!

I had to work on his birthday so we decided to do something over the weekend.

On Saturday I got a sitter and we attended the adult session of our Stake Conference. It was a really good session and the speakers spoke exactly to our hearts and addressed the things we needed to hear. It was great. After the session we ate at Red Lobster...mmmmmm so yum.

On Monday we took the kids to King Buffet after their school carnival. Aljay was able to eat all the mussels he desired.

Finally, on Tuesday, it was his birthday! YAY! Lol Since I had to work a late event, I had a game plan for the morning.

  • My plan > clean the house real nice and make him a really good breakfast
  • Leila & Sefa's plan > come home, do their chores, bake a cake, and make him cards
  • Viiga & Saleima & Metuli's plan > prevent everyone else from achieving their plans

Can you guess who was most successful? Yes the babies. They were extra fussy, fighting extra with each other, making extra messes, and extra extraing all day.

Luckily I always have a contingency plan >  I told him he could have his boys over that evening.

Lucky for me I came home an hour earlier than planned and there was some yummy curry and fresh oka. Soooooo yumm and keto friendly lol.

End of the School Year Shennanigans
And now we round out the month with all the "end of the school year" happenings.

These pics are from Vineyard Elementary's end of the year carnival. All the kids wanted to do was stay at the petting zoo, minus the two babies. They stayed behind the fence lol

Then of course King's buffet to end the evening.

We went to Leila's Class Play
It was super cute. I posted the videos on the family chat lol

Vineyard City Heritage Weekend
I love that the Vineyard fair is always at the park right next door. They do free activities for kids as well as carnival rides.
