Dec- the calm before the storm

OOohhmmmyyyyyy liiiiiiffeeeee....
December ended up being one buuussyyyy crazy month!!!! 
eh I feel like that's just the theme of our lives!
But before the crazyness
(which was the latter part of the month) 
we did get some nice family time :)
So here's the catch up of the calm before the storm. 


NEW CAR + CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
Dec 4

We were finally able to pick up our brand used car :) Even though  I lost the minivan battle with Aljay, I'm really happy with the suburban. He did good. Plus, we got a good deal and Aljay's credit was repaired for free :) We had paid off a bunch of things almost 1 or 2 years ago and so the credit repair guy was able to dispute it to get it off his record. So it's comforting know that his credit score is going to shoot back up once the disputes go through in a few months. 

 After we picked up the car we went home and picked up Mom and Dad. For FHE we went through the Christmas light show at Provo Mall. It was really cool! It was $25 a car, but it was worth it being able to stay in the comfort and warmth of the car and keep the kids contained. Plus the light show was long enough to feel like you got your money worth lol. 

 But my favorite things were 
(1) seeing the kids take turns watching the lights through the sunroof of the car and 
(2) seeing Mom's reaction and her dancing and singing along with the music, and 
(3) Dad recording the whole thing on his phone and then posting it on the family chat [yaaahh you Dad with your high tech self!]

MECHE'S FUNERAL + WARD CHRISTMAS PARTY

 This was a tough day. Mechelle Lindberg is the daughter of Vai and Kathy Levi.  Aljay's family was pretty close to their family. Brit was besties with Meche, and Aljay and Vjal were besties with her brothers Sa'ili and Michael. 

 Mechy is definitely one of the bubbliest girls with a gorgeous smile that was just so infectious. My heart ached for her family, especially her saint of a Mother who's example of faith and service I deeply admire and strive to achieve. 

 It was nice that Brittany was able to make it to the funeral as well. She spoke during the Family service. 








I made it back from a St. George work trip just in time for the burial. Afterwards, we headed to our chapel to help set up for the ward Christmas party. It was a long, heart warming, and fun day. All the feels in one day. 

 Sorry no pics. I was on kitchen duty. I did get a video of Aljay and the Elder's Quorum doing their item, but yeah....i'll post it eventually yeah?


MANUMA CHRISTMAS PARTY

 Matt and Agnes hosted a Christmas party at their place. It was a lot of fun. Didn't get many pics but Aljay won a $50 gift card and the kids had a ton of fun! 



SCHOOL CHRISTMAS PROGRAM & VIVINT CHRISTMAS PARTY
Dec 19

 We all got to go the kids Christmas Program at school. 

 Sidenote>> their school is so over crowded. They are supposed to be changing the boundaries for next year, but I think we're going to have to take a look at the charter school down the street from our house. 

 Anyways...Leila and Sefa were so cute. The other two were another story lol

 In the evening we went to Vivint's Christmas Company party. Angel had reserved enough tickets for all the families (major mahalos Angel!!!)

 The had a blast! All of them, except Sally girl, got to try out ice skating for the first time. It was so fun to watch!

Yes these were the calm times lol. During that time we were still getting paperwork done to close on the house and standing by for when we would receive word. 

 Everything was pretty much on hold until we could figure out when we would be able to move out of the apartment and into the new home. It was a bit frustrating not knowing, but Aljay was such a champ to help my parents get their paperwork going and working with our agent. 

 I was just trying to get through work lol. 

 And thus ends the first half of the last month of the 2017th year.

Start the year off with two volleyball tournaments for Leila. The picture below is of her and Isa, the only 14-year-olds on their U16 team.  Fires are destroying parts of California, the Palisade area experiencing the worst of it. Texas and some of the southern states are experiencing some of the worst snow/ice conditions. TikTok is on the verge of being banned, President Trump is continuously passing executive orders that are sending people into panic.  Saleima made a list of the disasters and warned us that Jesus was on His way.  Sefa moved up to the Teachers quorum and was ordained by his Dad, Uncle Dennis, and Uncle Ben. He's growing so quickly and I love seeing his growth. They have a great group of young men. Being Prepared For These Times

Auuuu that title sounds like I'm trying to write a General Conference talk or something hahaha. Probably still on the GC vibe from the beginning of the month lol. Anyways... So this pandemic that's going on, it's been something else! It has put the whole world on lock down. So many lives have been affected. I've written quite a bit in my journal, but I wanted to make sure to write about how the Lord has prepared our family specifically for this time. Looking back just in February and March, we can easily see how the Lord had orchestrated parts of our lives.  In February Aljay secured an art collector who commissioned several art pieces. His deposit was the cushion that brought a sense of financial security when we entered this lock-down life.  Towards the end of February, my bosses had heard about school closures in Seattle and decided that we should have a plan in place for our advisers to work remotely in case the schools had to close. 2025 February

Leila - Volleyball and more Volleyball  Leila had two tournaments in February. This club season has challenged her in a good way. She wants to play the outside hitter position but is playing on a 16s team (meaning older girls with more experience) and is sitting in the 3rd spot for out side hitting. To get to the 1 or 2 spot she needs more reps, more practice, and more individual coaching. We're seeing improvements each week, but are planning to set aside money for her to do more 1:1 coaching.  These tournaments are no joke. They are allllll day. 6am - 7pm sometimes. 1-day, 2-day, and sometimes 3-day tourneys. The mental stamina it takes as a parent ahahahahh is a real thing! Trying to say the right things to keep your athlete focused, motivated, and locked in is tough. There are so many things that are over stimulating or compounding: - the non stop sound of whistles and girl's cheering/screaming - the smell of swass in the building that increases as the tournament progresses...
