New Years Festivities

Week of New Years 


This is where we were really able to do things with the family since the kids and I had the whole week off!! Yay for breaks!

 MONDAY 12/26- Dad's 66 Birthday
My parents aren't really big on birthdays or celebrations of any type. We had a cake at our Christmas to'ona'i so they didn't want to do anything else on Dad's actual birthday. Aljay did take Dad for a drive to Home Depot and to some possible areas where they might want to build or buy a house.

 We were all still so stuffed from Christmas dinner that we didn't really want to eat anything. We ended up eating leftovers and called it goods.

  I need to be better at making birthday's more special even when people don't want to make a deal out of it. Candace is always so good at this. I need to jump on that train and get with the program.


WEDNESDAY 12/28- To'ona'i with the Kakas

 Aunty Janeen and Uncle Milton officially made the move to Utah! We had dinner together and got to see Trav and Farwyn and their kids, meet Jen and Justyn's newborn Katarina, meet Betty's fiance Lama, see how tall Cynjin and Mileen are, see Peter and Kami and their family before she gives birth, and see Nita and Ty and their beautiful babies. *p.s. Kami gave birth the next day.. Soooo beautiful! I love my family! So happy our kids all got to play together.


 THURSDAY 12/29- Couple's Night
Aljay and I met up with our friends Nate and Lola Savaiinaea and Mike and Joy Levi for dinner and games. It was so fun to eat, relax, and laugh with friends and no kids. Except we brought Saleima and Viiga because we thought it would be a bit much for my parents to handle all four. They kept themselves entertained in the toy room though. We need to hanahou this event! Next time with Penny and Lahvjal! They couldn't make it to this one but next time for sure!


 FRIDAY 12/30- Birthday's, Anniversaries, Family Fun
  1. Happy Birthday Candace! and Lanea and Jboy and Uncle Pat and Tala (I'm sure I'm missing many others) and I swear there are a lot of people who have this birthday!
  2. Happy Anniversary Camilla and Dan!
  3. Boondocks! We lucked out. Uncle Leroy hooked us up with free game cards and food at Boondocks! It was so fun! The kids had a blast. 

SATURDAY 12/31- New Year's Eve

 Our ward had a ward dance but Aljay and the two babies were starting to get sick so we wanted to keep them home. I was about to take Leila and Sefa to go have fun (they even got dressed and ready) but then Lahvjal called and asked if he could come over with some friends and pop firecrackers with the kids. That changed Leila and Sefa's minds real quick. So we ended up having a little get together with Lahvjal & Penny, Lyle & his Wife, and Afa & Laura. 

 The fire crackers were fricken hilarious. There were so many times I thought someone was going to get hurt cause some of the fire crackers were going eeeeeverywhere.

 We missed the countdown again (this is becoming a yearly thing) so we did a fake countdown with our wall clock that is slow by a few minutes and drank our martinellis.

Being Prepared For These Times

Auuuu that title sounds like I'm trying to write a General Conference talk or something hahaha. Probably still on the GC vibe from the beginning of the month lol. Anyways... So this pandemic that's going on, it's been something else! It has put the whole world on lock down. So many lives have been affected. I've written quite a bit in my journal, but I wanted to make sure to write about how the Lord has prepared our family specifically for this time. Looking back just in February and March, we can easily see how the Lord had orchestrated parts of our lives.  In February Aljay secured an art collector who commissioned several art pieces. 2025 February

Leila - Volleyball and more Volleyball  Leila had two tournaments in February. This club season has challenged her in a good way. She wants to play the outside hitter position but is playing on a 16s team (meaning older girls with more experience) and is sitting in the 3rd spot for out side hitting. To get to the 1 or 2 spot she needs more reps, more practice, and more individual coaching. We're seeing improvements each week, but are planning to set aside money for her to do more 1:1 coaching.  These tournaments are no joke. They are allllll day. 6am - 7pm sometimes. 1-day, 2-day, and sometimes 3-day tourneys. The mental stamina it takes as a parent ahahahahh is a real thing! Trying to say the right things to keep your athlete focused, motivated, and locked in is tough. There are so many things that are over stimulating or compounding: - the non stop sound of whistles and girl's cheering/screaming - the smell of swass in the building that increases as the tournament progresses...

2025 January

Start the year off with two volleyball tournaments for Leila. The picture below is of her and Isa, the only 14-year-olds on their U16 team.  Fires are destroying parts of California, the Palisade area experiencing the worst of it. Texas and some of the southern states are experiencing some of the worst snow/ice conditions. TikTok is on the verge of being banned, President Trump is continuously passing executive orders that are sending people into panic.  Saleima made a list of the disasters and warned us that Jesus was on His way.  Sefa moved up to the Teachers quorum and was ordained by his Dad, Uncle Dennis, and Uncle Ben. He's growing so quickly and I love seeing his growth. They have a great group of young men. I love that they are old enough to plan activities, including attending the temple to do Baptism.  Sefa's also starting U15 7v7 pylons with coach Matt Manuma.
