BACK TO SCHOOL!!

Friday 8/19/2016

We went to the kid's school open house and got to meet Mrs. Hawkes (Leila's 1st Grade teacher). She got to pick her desk and check out the classroom. We recognized two other students in Leila's class from the class list- Brayvian and Stevee. I was happy Leila would at least see some familiar faces and Aljay was just happy that JT wasn't in her class LOL. I did see him go into the other 1st Grade class down the hall though hehe.

We didn't get to meet Sefa's teacher yet because he starts the Monday after Leila. He has to do kindergarten assessment on the day she starts school though. After his assessment they will let us know if he is in all-day kindergarten or half-day. We're praying for ALL DAY though. That way we can drop off and pick up the both of them at the same time.

We ended our last summer weekend with the stake MRI (Makai Reading Initiative) pool party. We only got to swim for about an hour before we had to go. They kids had fun swimming and seeing all their friends and family.

Kind of blurry and dark but that's
Sefa climbing up the rockwall.

In the evening the kids and I went with our friend Candace and her three youngest kids to the James the Mormon 'Thank You' concert. Aljay, Vjal, and Benzo (Candace's husband) went from the Rooci meeting, to Vjal's fireknife gig, and met up with us later at the concert. I don't even know JamestheMormon's songs but it was free! We like free lol. Uncle Leroy was emceeing the event so Rooci ended up doing a giveaway (aka throwing shirts into the audience). You can watch the video on the
Rooci Facebook page. They had so much fun! The concert wasn't the most kid friendly in set up but there was a free rock wall that Sefa got to climb and a bouncy house that took donations for charity, which all the kids loved.

This was the one last shindig just before school started.

A little background on my new job...

I officially started on Mon 8/22 as a part time Admissions Counselor at UVU in the prospective students services department (it's under the Admissions umbrella). My focus is on the Non-traditional students aka Adult learners aka anyone who is not a freshee coming straight out of high school. I'm sure I'll get a better grasp of my job duties and description as time goes on.

I saw the job opening and applied last month and was soooooo happy I got an interview since I turned in my application the day after they started screening applicants.
I also had to do a presentation as part of the interview. I was nervous because it has been a while since I've been in the workforce. But I got the second interview which was actually where they offered the job. Not going to lie, I felt pretty proud of myself.

I was praying like the heck thanking Heavenly Father because I found a job that I really like,
I am able to make my schedule, and most surprisingly the possibility of going back to school has been reignited....just a baby flame though. BUT it's lit #litAF lol I'm hoping to work my way into a full-time position in a year. That will allow me to take classes for free. I want to take any prerequisites for the Master's Program that I am interested in. Now all I have to do is find a Master's Program that I want to apply for lol. I looked into University of Utah's Masters Program for Counseling and I know I have to take a Statistics class and another History and maybe a psychology #uughh, but if I can get those out of the way for freeeeee. That would be great :) All in good time. All in good time.

Sefa officially started Kindergarten. His teacher, Ms Smith, is bomb! I remember her from last year and I can already tell that she is awesome. #Mominstincts He didn't make it into all-day kinder. Shux. But then that means he did well enough on his assessment. So I guess that's a good thing right? hahah Is it bad that I was hoping he wouldn't do well and get into all-day kindy? hahah..

Annnyywaayysss....He's in the afternoon class which starts at 12:15pm and ends at the same time as Leila. I think this is going to work great for Sefa because he is not so much a morning person and I think he would be bored if he had all day kinder. I can picture him saying "but I already did this!"....(all day kinder means you get the same lesson twice).

**UPdate**
Good news- he came home from his first day of school so excited and happy to be in kindergarten!!! He loves school! YAY! It's gonna be a good year folks!

And just like that summer is officially over!!!

[insert sad face emoji]

Now it is just these two monkeys at home with Daddy.

Good luck to them and GOOD LUCK to DADDY!!!

*but how bout it's been a week of Aljay being a stay-at-home/work-from-home Daddy and I swear these two do better with him than they ever do with just me! Little Monkey children!
