Our Leila is 6!!!

Here's a few things about her--
  1. She loves to draw and write.
  2. She has really good penmanship.
  3. She is competitive.
  4. She is a camper on youtube makeup tutorials and knows more about makeup than I did when I started wearing it....in college. 
  5. She loves to swim. #swimmersear #nogood
  6. She loves wearing dresses and skirts.
  7. Her favorite colors are pink, purple, and white.
  8. She's scared of dogs.
  9. She taught herself how to ride a bike. 
  10. She will eat lettuce if she can dip it in ranch dressing or soy sauce. 
  11. She doesn't really like eggs; scrambled or fried. But she'll sometimes eat boiled eggs.
  12. Her favorite animal is a unicorn :)
  13. She loves to read. #GreenEggsandHamonrepeat

Like really...where does the time go? In two years she'll be 8. In six years she'll be 12 and starting young womens. How does this happen so quickly! She's getting so old. Which means her parents are getting old too but that's another post lol

 Anyways...

She is an awesome older sister who takes great care of her siblings. We love hearing about her dreams and goals- she says she wants to be a teacher when she grows up. Aawwww :) We love hearing her struggle when she is faced with a challenge and then finding the grit to get through it. I love her laughter and her jokes! My favorite thing is when we get to sit down and just talk. 

 Our conversation one night....

 Leila: Mom you know...all the girls in the class are in love. They all love JT.

Me: *here we go again with that JT kid*....And what about you?!?

Leila: I don't have a crush on him. Stevee has a crush on him but Conner has a crush on Stevee.

Me: Sounds complicated. So you're telling me that eeeeevery girl is in love JT but not you. You're just a friend right??

Leila: Yeah I am just a friend....buttttt ummm...I think maybe I have a crush on JT too?

Me: Oh yeah? You think he's cute?

Leila: Yes! I love him! I wish we lived together!!

Me: Oh Hell no! Go get your Dad! Let's have lotu! We need to pray! I need to pray! Hurry up! We need some prayer! And grab the Book of Mormon! We reading extra verses tonight.

 Yeah so sometimes it backfires and I'm caught off gaurd lol. But we do love hearing about her day and her relationships with her friends.  


HER BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

 We decided to do something low key for her birthday this year. We started off her day with her favorites for breakfast- chocolate chip pancakes and sausages. 


 Then I took goody bags for her class at school just before morning recess. Got a better look at that JT kid. I see why all the girls think he's cute. He's a cute Samoan boy with dimples and long hair. hahahah. I should've snapped a pic but I forgot. dangit.

 After school Aljay took her shopping (at the dollar store lol). She was so happy to come home with her new shoes, notebook, stickers, and leggings. Loooove the family dollar store!

 Then I had her do a "how to make princess cupcakes" video tutorial lol. Video coming soon :) She watches cake tutorials allllll the time. Then we stuck candles in and sang Happy Birthday. I had a separate cake for the whole song and candles to do after the movie but ayyy no one was complaining.

 After cupcakes we cleaned up and had her favorites for dinner- spaghetti and garlic bread. 

She picked Disney Descendants as the movie to watch. Half way through I told her she can decorate her cake. She was soooo excited!

She went into the kitchen and went to work. Just before bed I showed her all her birthday shout outs from my facebook page lol. I know she wanted to have friends and a party but good thing we didn't cause she was sooooo tired and started to have an earache. 

And after the kids went to bed, Aljay and I are just sat on the couch looking at all our old facebook pics of Leila when she was a baby. We are so proud of our little girl. We love her so much. Happy 6th Birthday Leila :)

Start the year off with two volleyball tournaments for Leila. The picture below is of her and Isa, the only 14-year-olds on their U16 team.  Fires are destroying parts of California, the Palisade area experiencing the worst of it. Texas and some of the southern states are experiencing some of the worst snow/ice conditions. TikTok is on the verge of being banned, President Trump is continuously passing executive orders that are sending people into panic.  Saleima made a list of the disasters and warned us that Jesus was on His way.  Sefa moved up to the Teachers quorum and was ordained by his Dad, Uncle Dennis, and Uncle Ben. He's growing so quickly and I love seeing his growth. They have a great group of young men. Being Prepared For These Times

Auuuu that title sounds like I'm trying to write a General Conference talk or something hahaha. Probably still on the GC vibe from the beginning of the month lol. Anyways... So this pandemic that's going on, it's been something else! It has put the whole world on lock down. So many lives have been affected. I've written quite a bit in my journal, but I wanted to make sure to write about how the Lord has prepared our family specifically for this time. Looking back just in February and March, we can easily see how the Lord had orchestrated parts of our lives.  In February Aljay secured an art collector who commissioned several art pieces. His deposit was the cushion that brought a sense of financial security when we entered this lock-down life.  Towards the end of February, my bosses had heard about school closures in Seattle and decided that we should have a plan in place for our advisers to work remotely in case the schools had to close. 2025 February

Leila - Volleyball and more Volleyball  Leila had two tournaments in February. This club season has challenged her in a good way. She wants to play the outside hitter position but is playing on a 16s team (meaning older girls with more experience) and is sitting in the 3rd spot for out side hitting. To get to the 1 or 2 spot she needs more reps, more practice, and more individual coaching. We're seeing improvements each week, but are planning to set aside money for her to do more 1:1 coaching.  These tournaments are no joke. They are allllll day. 6am - 7pm sometimes. 1-day, 2-day, and sometimes 3-day tourneys. The mental stamina it takes as a parent ahahahahh is a real thing! Trying to say the right things to keep your athlete focused, motivated, and locked in is tough. There are so many things that are over stimulating or compounding: - the non stop sound of whistles and girl's cheering/screaming - the smell of swass in the building that increases as the tournament progresses...
