ROOCI LLP- First Business Trip: Polynesian NFL Hall of Fame
Last month Aljay went to Hawaii for a week and 1/2 for the Polynesian NFL Hall of Fame. Rooci had partnered up with Style Pasifika to produce the Hall of Fame apparel.
*Quick Backstory* So Style Pasifika is the company that produces the kukui nut leis with the NFL team logos. They have been looking for someone that could produce Polynesian designs for their apparel part of their business. Myra (Aljay and Vjals first cousin on their Dad's side) is friends with Willie (the guy who owns Style Pasifika) and referred him to the Rooci website and facebook page and it went from there...
Aljay was contacted only a few weeks before the event, so he and Lahvjal had to get the mockups ready, approved, printed, tagged, and shipped within two weeks. It's quite a tall order for a 2 man business that has never done anything like this before. We also decided within a week before the event, that it would be most beneficial for Aljay to go to Hawaii and see everything go through properly, meet Willie in person, network, and all that. So we scraped the bottom of our pockets and sent him off.
It was so cool seeing Rooci designs being sold at PCC, the HOF banquet, and the NFL probowl. It was a huge business learning/networking experience. Not to mention a family affair with Brit, Nina, and Ben helping out. It would've been perfect if Lahvjal could of gone though, but soon enough it will get to that point where he can quit his job. It also opened the door for more partnership projects which we are so excited for! Big things are happening for Rooci.
So now we have heaps of money....lol I'm absolutely kidding. We are still in the troughs... on a steep uphill climb... but we'll get there. One step at a time.
So after having a splendid time in Hawaii with all his family, friends, work, and food....Aljay returned and then went on another mini trip with Vjal.
ROOCI LLP- 2nd Business Trip: Vegas
This was a one night road trip for Aljay and Lahvjal. Willie lives in Vegas so they drove down for a meeting and took Viiga (Aljay was feeling bad after leaving me with 4 kids for over a week lol). They worked out contracts, calendars, projects, and all that other business stuff. It was also the first time Vjal was meeting Willie in person. It was definitely another worthwhile trip.
Penny hits up NYC!!!
Ohemgeeee....this has nothing to do with us lol but I have to record this! Penny was invited to a fashion show competition thing held in Salt Lake and then spent like a week and a half sewing/designing her collection......takes it to the fashion comp and boom kanani wins! Part of the prize was going to NYC!!! Bananas! On top of seeing Wicked on Broadway, attending fashion shows, seeing Whoopi.....one of her pieces was sold for chooooke money!!! But all the money went to charity lol Either way, it was awesome and I fully enjoyed stocking her snapchat and facebook. Get it Pens! Excited to see what the future holds for this designer! Das mah sista!!!
St. George- Kahuku HS Rugby Tourney
We ended the month with a mini trip to St. George to watch Lafai and Achilles play. It was a short but fun family trip consisting of Lahvjal, Toa, Ary, us, and our minions. We drove down Friday evening and stayed at Darryl and Janelle's place for the night in Ceder. Saturday morning we drove down to St. George and watched the boys game. They won 2 out of the 3 games. Their last game was their best though. We cheered as if we actually went to Kahuku lol. #RR4L #tomahawkaction
We were going to drive straight home after their game but we were drained. So we stayed another night in Cedar, left at 5am, got home at 7:30am, and made it to our 9 o'clock ward at 10am lol.
It was so good to see the "boys" (sheesh they're so tall and old!) And of course Uncle Neta and all the familiar faces from Laie. It was a much needed break from Orem and the cold weather. And now I have a reawakened interest and excitement in rugby, and an even stronger desire to go to Vegas and watch the Sevens (but we aren't going)....oh and Aljay wants to start coaching a rugby team. Lol of course...Love this guy and his never ending list of dreams and goals.
