Mom and Dad updates

Usually I just do updates on the kids and end up adding in me and Aljay....but the last one got kinda long. Anyways....Aljay and I have been growing and progressing just like the chirruns :) It's kind of exciting. Here's some updates of Me and the Mister--

Sandra aka Mama-San Updates
 (no one calls me that but who says you can't make up your own nicknames)

  1. I will be returning to stay-at-home Mom status at the end of the school year (May). I am excited for this. I started working fall 2014 as part-time as a high school guided studies teacher because (1) I wanted to work part time and (2)our family needed me to. I like it a lot, but Aljay has a good stable job now and we both feel strongly that I need to be home with the kids. I'm stoked.
  2. I will be focusing on going back to school. Excited about this, but also scared. Haven't applied, haven't looked at courses, haven't done anything yet.....but for the first time I actually feel like the timing to get the ball rolling is right.
  3. I've been working out and losing weight! It's been two weeks so far of consistent (3 times a week) working out. So far I've lost 2lbs hahahahaah....but I'm getting stronger each week, I've gained more energy, and a bit more self-confidence. #glasshalffull #alwaysseethebrighterside
  4. I finally got some essential oils!!!! Baby picked up a cold and I was super anxious to nip it in the bud. So I asked Lahvjal for some oils and bradda man came through like a champ. I used those suckers consistently and in three days baby was almost completely done with his cold. #teamgetsleep #teamcanbreathe #teamessentialoils


Aljay aka Mr.Vasa's Updates
  1. He's a manager now :) He was an assistant manager at his gym and is now a manager over one of the smaller Vasa gyms in Provo. He is so deserving of it. #feelingblessed #proudwife
  2. Fitness journey is still going strong! He's been working out every night after work with his cousin Devin and eating clean.  We've been taking progress pics and recording his weight but he doesn't want to post anything until the weight-loss competition is over. #bigreveal lol. I'm working on a separate post for it though. He's been consistent and motivated and you can see it in his face....cause he finally shaved his ratchet beard!!! Some of his co-workers started calling him Mr. Bubbles (the black guy from Lilo and Stitch) hahahh

  3. Signed, sealed, delivered! Aljay finally signed a contract with a company that he did designs for. We're excited to see the final product! And hopefully see some royalties! #yesplease

Overall, we've been extremely blessed and have hearts full of gratitude. 
Like most people, one of our dreams has always been to make enough money to provide for our family needs and to be able to help others. Aljay especially has always dreamed larger than life and worked hard to provide for us. (He wants to have all his siblings live in a culdesac and work together in family business and provide jobs and scholarships for Polys and all that yada yada goodness :))  One of the scriptures we read during a recent FHE summarizes pretty much our ambitions.

We've made several wrong turns, plenty U turns, and all sorts of other turns...and in these past two years we've been better at giving the Lord a turn in directing our ship. It's been pretty crazy. We may not be rich in wealth but we have everything we need. I'm not sure that I have the words to explain it all.

Start the year off with two volleyball tournaments for Leila. The picture below is of her and Isa, the only 14-year-olds on their U16 team.  Fires are destroying parts of California, the Palisade area experiencing the worst of it. Texas and some of the southern states are experiencing some of the worst snow/ice conditions. TikTok is on the verge of being banned, President Trump is continuously passing executive orders that are sending people into panic.  Saleima made a list of the disasters and warned us that Jesus was on His way.  Sefa moved up to the Teachers quorum and was ordained by his Dad, Uncle Dennis, and Uncle Ben. He's growing so quickly and I love seeing his growth. They have a great group of young men. Being Prepared For These Times

Auuuu that title sounds like I'm trying to write a General Conference talk or something hahaha. Probably still on the GC vibe from the beginning of the month lol. Anyways... So this pandemic that's going on, it's been something else! It has put the whole world on lock down. So many lives have been affected. I've written quite a bit in my journal, but I wanted to make sure to write about how the Lord has prepared our family specifically for this time. Looking back just in February and March, we can easily see how the Lord had orchestrated parts of our lives.  In February Aljay secured an art collector who commissioned several art pieces. His deposit was the cushion that brought a sense of financial security when we entered this lock-down life.  Towards the end of February, my bosses had heard about school closures in Seattle and decided that we should have a plan in place for our advisers to work remotely in case the schools had to close. 2025 February

Leila - Volleyball and more Volleyball  Leila had two tournaments in February. This club season has challenged her in a good way. She wants to play the outside hitter position but is playing on a 16s team (meaning older girls with more experience) and is sitting in the 3rd spot for out side hitting. To get to the 1 or 2 spot she needs more reps, more practice, and more individual coaching. We're seeing improvements each week, but are planning to set aside money for her to do more 1:1 coaching.  These tournaments are no joke. They are allllll day. 6am - 7pm sometimes. 1-day, 2-day, and sometimes 3-day tourneys. The mental stamina it takes as a parent ahahahahh is a real thing! Trying to say the right things to keep your athlete focused, motivated, and locked in is tough. There are so many things that are over stimulating or compounding: - the non stop sound of whistles and girl's cheering/screaming - the smell of swass in the building that increases as the tournament progresses...
