Family Updates Papa Joe and Mama Saleia They've been making progress. Mom is doing great with her therapies(occupational, speech, and physical). She is very determined and gives her best effort. At this point, her therapy is to help maintain what physical abilities she has now.  They took the wound vac off of Dad's foot and changed the bandages every other day. The healing process moves a bit more slowly for him. He got a Dexcom continuous glucose meter, which has been really helpful in seeing his blood sugar levels in real-time. It has helped him to be more conscientious about his diet. Does he still eat all the carbs? Yes, he sure does. Tsk tsk.  High Schoolers - Leila and Sefa We're getting close to wrapping up their season. This month is playoff month.  After Timpview's game against Wasatch. The scout team (varsity Freshman) got to play in the last minute and a half and scored a touchdown! They were so cute celebrating in the endzone lol  These two are such goofs...

AUGUST & SEPTEMBER

It's almost October as I am writing this. Our family has been sprinting since the beginning of August. The past two months have been hectic on so many levels. God has strengthened our backs and carried us (and continues to carry us) through it. So let's get started shall we.... First Full week of August--- Aug 6 - Mom & Dad Arrive. They Rest and Recover from Traveling. Aug 7 - Dad is admitted to the ER Aug 8 - Dad has surgery to amputate two toes and the infected parts of his foot.  Backstory--- End of July we found out that Dad had an infection in his toe. It was so painful that he ended up bedridden. When he went to the hospital, they only gave him Tylenol with codeine, so he just tried to manage at home. But the pain kept getting worse until he couldn’t even stand on his foot. At his follow-up appointment, they finally gave him antibiotics, but by then his toe was clearly gangrenous. My siblings and I pushed for him to come to Utah, since there aren’t any surgeons in Am...

2025 JULY

July 2 - 7th  I took time off from work to just enjoy summer with the kids. This week was also a moratorium for the high school sports (no scheduled athletic practices).  July 2 - Took the kids to watch Jurassic Rebirth. Movie was alright but more fun to watch with the little kids. July 3 - We did our shopping for 4th of July foods. Aunty Penny and Uncle Vjal came over and took the kids to the park July 4th - We borrowed paddleboards and kid kayaks and headed to Manila Creek Pond. Kids had so much fun.  Then we came home, bbq'd, and did some fireworks. Kila and Ary and their boys joined us. It was a good time for sure! Even Teki showed up later that night.  July 5th - Recovered lol  July 6th - Church, came home and had lunch, then watch the film Tina. I sure did cry many times throughout that movie. Such a great story.  July 7th -  Woke up around 6:30am and went for a walk. Came home, scrolled on my phone, then enjoyed breakfast by Aljay and Lani. Then...

Health Update (April, May, June)

APRIL/MAY April? Yeah, just go ahead and flush that one down the toilet—hahahaha. April was a tough month, and it's been a slow adjustment back to some sort of a normal schedule.  The only thing I really remember doing in April was increasing my Ozempic dosage. The recommendation is to start at .25 mg and then bump up to .50 mg after four weeks. I followed that and it made me feel sick, like IBS/fatigue-level sick. It doesn't help that we were in the midst of funeral, family, trips, surgery...all the things.  May has been a month of resetting and getting back into focus. Here's what that looks like to me--- I decided to go back down to .25 mg Diet focus - get more protein and fiber Activity- Get more physical movement in my life! I was influenced to download the Bend app I've gone back to using the Omada app regularly (tracking weight, glucose, blood pressure) and interacting with my specialist and health coach.  JUNE Reined it back in and got back into focus. The ...

Leila & Sefa - Youth Conference We had a strong start to June with Leila and Sefa going to Youth conference. This was the first year youth conference was an overnight (2 nights) camp. It was up at the Church's campsite in Heber.  The kids both LOVED youth conference. As a family we had intentially prayed that Leila and Sefa would have open hearts and minds, courage to push outside of their comfort zones, and feel the Saviors love for them. Aljay and I were filled with gratitude as they both reported how wonderful and impactful conference was.  The top favorite thing at camp was the dance on the first night. That quickly moved down the list after they did the Look Unto Christ Walk. I think that was the favorite part for all the youth.  I wish I had pictures, but it's all good. I'm just so grateful for the leaders and opportunity the kids had to get out in nature, into a sacred space often referred to as a temple with no walls .  While the teens were at the ...
