Health Update (April, May, June)
APRIL/MAY
April? Yeah, just go ahead and flush that one down the toilet—hahahaha.
April was a tough month, and it's been a slow adjustment back to some sort of a normal schedule.
The only thing I really remember doing in April was increasing my Ozempic dosage. The recommendation is to start at .25 mg and then bump up to .50 mg after four weeks. I followed that and it made me feel sick, like IBS/fatigue-level sick. It doesn't help that we were in the midst of funeral, family, trips, surgery...all the things.
May has been a month of resetting and getting back into focus. Here's what that looks like to me---
- I decided to go back down to .25 mg
- Diet focus - get more protein and fiber
- Activity- Get more physical movement in my life!
- I was influenced to download the Bend app
- I've gone back to using the Omada app regularly (tracking weight, glucose, blood pressure) and interacting with my specialist and health coach.
JUNE
Reined it back in and got back into focus. The plan is---
- Low carb/sugar
- Fasting
- Strength training and more activity
Journal
5/13 - I've been paying attention to my diet, trying to get more protein and fiber in. The last two weeks my tummy has been so uncomfortable I thought I had IBS. I've dosed down on Ozempic and it has been so much better. Now I need to get active and increase movement!
5/19 - For the past week, Aljay's been making a ginger/lemon/honey juice for us, and it has been really helping my digestive system. I've felt less bloated, with fewer tummy troubles.
This week I'm focusing on consistently stretching, going for walks, and eating veggies every day.
5/27 - Aljay turned 40 last week. BeNinaLeta flew in to help us celebrate. We've been family funning it for the last 6 days. I'm ready to reset and get back into some sort of schedule.
I woke up this morning, did my stretches, folded and put away a load of laundry, did my hair while I listened to a conference talk by Elder Holland, did my personal prayer, and had our prayer, then went to work. Feeling like I'm off to a great start!
Didn't eat breakfast, so I guess I'm "intermittent fasting"??? lol
6/3 - I've been consistent with stretching every day.
6/11 - It's been a good week.
- With the help of Ai I put together a 2 week plan for myself and wrote it in my calendar.
- Made Penny my accountability partner.
- I send a picture after finishing a workout
- I've committed to 150 minutes of movement a week, following the plan
6/13 - I'm pretty proud of myself. I've been consistent with my activity goal this week.
6/24 - last week I only managed about 2 days of activity. My period fatigue made it really hard to get up in the morning. This is a new week though and I'm getting out of the menstrual phase. Time to lock back in and get my workouts done.
