January 2024
Jan 13 - Leila's First Club Tournament
In Nov (2023) Leila started her first season of club volleyball with the Club Sand program. They had their first tourney as a team in January. Leila played as an outside hitter.
Her team is a 14's team and they played in the 15's division, coming out on top in the silver bracket! It was pretty cool to see. They were so nervous during their first game and gained confidence as they kept playing throughout the day. The matches were so fun to watch!
Things our family learned --
- These tourneys are full day. Next time I'm coming prepared with way more options for snacks. Even though I packed hella food, Aljay and the kids got bored with the options. Pack your own food next time eeeehh lol
- Have a charger and power bank. I brought a power bank and didn't let the kids go on my phone, which helped it last all day.
- Bring small blankets because the kids will get tired and fall asleep.
- Just leave the kids home! hahah It was fun having them there to cheer, but it was a long day (7am - 9pm) and they drove us nuts during the waiting times.
Jan 14 - Family Program for Sacrament Meeting
Nothing crazy here. I was just really proud of all of our kids for preparing talks and testimonies. We were at Leila's volleyball tournament the night before, got home around 9pm and started writing all our talks. Thanks to Aunty Brittany for helping out! We got to bed around 11pm/almost 12. Made it to church before 9am *miracle* and are got it done!
Jan 21 - Orem Temple Dedication & Afele Family To'ona'i
Our regular church services were replaced with the Orem Temple dedication that day. The Stake Center by the temple will now be our new Stake Center! So blessed to have Orem temple just down the road!
We had a family to'ona'i one last time before my parents would fly back.
Jan 22 - Metuli's 6th Birthday and Mom & Dad's return to Samoa
Started the day by taking Mom and Dad to the airport.
We then picked up some donuts for Metuli to share with her kindergarten class.
In the evening we took the kids to Hang Time (trampoline park). Then home for games, dinner, and cake.
Jan 31st - Last Day of Concurrent Enrollment for Mom!
I've been wanting to change jobs and decided it was time! After two years of advising & outreach with UVU's concurrent enrollment program, I am calling it quits.
I have a few things in mind moving forward, and I am very excited for the change!
