Keiki Update

It's been a while since I've done one of these and my my how my tribe has grown. 

 LEILA
9 years old | 4th Grade


  • this girl is such a crack up
  • she's learned how to text/message people so she's been consistently texting Brittany (of course) from my phone 😂😂😂 and her messages are hilarious. They always start with "hello this is your best friend Leila"
  • and yes she is Brittany's mini and sometimes they sneak out and go eat icecream (monkeys)
  • We have to be careful about the things we say around her because she hears everything and I find myself always having to say "grown folks are talking" as a signal that she needs to step out of hearing distance
  • She's learning to cook and bake more and more things ( yeeeesssss)...and we all appreciate it so so much. 
  • When it comes to clothes/getting dressed, her style is definitely laie girl kine-- tita bun, athletic leisure wear, Jslippers. So simple. I always ask her to wear her nice sweaters but she always goes back to hoodies, tshirts, basketball shorts or sweatpants. She sure is my kid. 
  • Grandma Lupe is teaching her how to play piano
  • This Spring we're going to start her in soccer. 

IOSEFA
8 years old | 3rd grade


  • This kid had like no photos on my phone. I need to fix that. 
  • he's super flexible..he can do the splits!
  • he loves to tumble and do back bends 
  • he's in that phase where he sometimes starts ackin up when his cousins are around
  • but he is the best cleaner and organizer
  • still a picky eater, but slowly and surely taking tiny bite size steps towards more variety in his diet
  • he can still keep himself occupied by playing on his own and I do appreciate that
  • he's a super awesome older brother...can sometimes be a bully....but when it comes down to it...he always takes care of his siblings
  • he has expressed interest in football and so we're going to start him this year
  • In the meantime, he'll do soccer in the spring 
  • He misses dancing and so that's another thing we need to get him (and probably the other kids) back into


VIIGA
5 years old | kindergarten
  • As you can see from the pics, he loooves holding baby and taking pics
  • my little botz kid lol....he looooves learning and understanding why things work a certain way
  • He asks theeeeee most questions. 
  • he's so bright and goofy 
  • he's getting better at reading and is always using everything he learns from school 
  • he can still be a little sooky la la sometimes lol
  • he always takes the longest to get ready for anything...and can never find his shoes!
  • Chats with him are so fun because you just never know where the conversation will go. He might say something totally wack and then shock you will something brilliant. 
  • He is always ready with unsolicited plain and simple truths. For example-
    • 'Mom you walk like a grandma' (I was 4 days post c section)
    • 'Dad is the best, he can fix anything and never gives up! Mom do you give up sometimes?' (egg)

SALEIMA
4 years old | home school
  • this child will drive you mad with how persistent she can be when she wants something. It's just that age. 
  • She is the #1 news reporter who has to give me a play by play on eeeeeverything and aaaaanything that happens
  • She is still working on asking for things nicely. 
  • She's a cuddle needing child who craves warm hugs and affection
  • She loves to feel our fat because "it's just so soft and squishy"....irrits 
  • but she's super cute and low key funny
  • she asks for treats every time she goes to the store...Aljay always gives in..but I don't play so yeah we sometimes leave Walmart with tears streaming down her cheeks lol
  • she doesn't like doing chores, but that's starting to change with Grandma Lupe here getting them into a routine. 
  • She is low key crazy and is one scrappah...when she's mad/crazy she will throw hands (mostly with her brothers). Luckily Viiga, who is most often on the receiving end of her crazy episodes, never hits back. Thank you Viiga.

METULI
2 years old | home wrecker lol
  • my little curly head babe
  • she has slowly been adjusting from her recent demotion from "baby boss" status..poor thing...but she's settling nicely into her "terrible two" phase...poor us lol
  • she's a little beast who eaaats (I swear it's a NICU baby thing. Cuz in the NICU she was fed on a schedule until she could feed on demand..so i don't think she's ever learned to make the connection that she is full) 
  • she can definitely hold her own at home and in nursery
  • she is so much like Aljay and I think it's the funniest/cutest thing 
  • she's definitely a Daddy's girl
  • She's so strong for a little kid
  • She just turned two last month [Birthday post here] and is so naughty! 
  • She spends the 1st hour of church in the hallway. 
  • She doesn't mind wiping her mouth, nose, face on your arm/sleeve/bedding, but never a tissue or napkin. why?!?
  • She's currently into all things Frozen I and II; she's always singing the songs. 

SALANI
1 month old | Baby
  • Oh our freshest member of our family
  • She's perfect. The end. lol jk
  • so she came home on oxygen, even though I don't think she really needed to...but she's off of it and doing so well
  • she's fattening up nicely 
  • I think she take the "best hair" award...she has so much hair
  • we just love her💓💓💓💓💓💓

Awwww, they're growing too fast! Especially baby, look at all her hair and her big brown eyes! Aunty loves you all!!!!!

Start the year off with two volleyball tournaments for Leila. The picture below is of her and Isa, the only 14-year-olds on their U16 team.  Fires are destroying parts of California, the Palisade area experiencing the worst of it. Texas and some of the southern states are experiencing some of the worst snow/ice conditions. TikTok is on the verge of being banned, President Trump is continuously passing executive orders that are sending people into panic.  Saleima made a list of the disasters and warned us that Jesus was on His way.  Sefa moved up to the Teachers quorum and was ordained by his Dad, Uncle Dennis, and Uncle Ben. He's growing so quickly and I love seeing his growth. They have a great group of young men. I love that they are old enough to plan activities, including attending the temple to do Baptism.  Sefa's also starting U15 7v7 pylons with coach Matt Manuma. Being Prepared For These Times

Auuuu that title sounds like I'm trying to write a General Conference talk or something hahaha. Probably still on the GC vibe from the beginning of the month lol. Anyways... So this pandemic that's going on, it's been something else! It has put the whole world on lock down. So many lives have been affected. I've written quite a bit in my journal, but I wanted to make sure to write about how the Lord has prepared our family specifically for this time. Looking back just in February and March, we can easily see how the Lord had orchestrated parts of our lives.  In February Aljay secured an art collector who commissioned several art pieces. His deposit was the cushion that brought a sense of financial security when we entered this lock-down life.  Towards the end of February, my bosses had heard about school closures in Seattle and decided that we should have a plan in place for our advisers to work remotely in case the schools had to close. 2025 February

Leila - Volleyball and more Volleyball  Leila had two tournaments in February. This club season has challenged her in a good way. She wants to play the outside hitter position but is playing on a 16s team (meaning older girls with more experience) and is sitting in the 3rd spot for out side hitting. To get to the 1 or 2 spot she needs more reps, more practice, and more individual coaching. We're seeing improvements each week, but are planning to set aside money for her to do more 1:1 coaching.  These tournaments are no joke. They are allllll day. 6am - 7pm sometimes. 1-day, 2-day, and sometimes 3-day tourneys. The mental stamina it takes as a parent ahahahahh is a real thing! Trying to say the right things to keep your athlete focused, motivated, and locked in is tough. There are so many things that are over stimulating or compounding: - the non stop sound of whistles and girl's cheering/screaming - the smell of swass in the building that increases as the tournament progresses...
