First Half [April]

Izzzz APPPprriillllLLLLLL>>>>>>> anada busi az monttthhh....

But at least it started off on a spiritual note.....

April 1-2   General Conference

We got to hear from our Prophet and General Authorities. #oneofthebesttimesoftheyear We took a break from all the Home reno projects, work, and callings. Our home teacher brought over some candy and General Conference Bingo for the kids. They loved it! Thank goodness! Cause I had no time to get their traditional General Conference Activity Baskets set up.

It was just the break we needed.

April 4 UVU's Cultural Envoy Showcase

We got to go to a performance by UVU's Cultural Envoy students (they are like BYU's Living Legends but on a budget).

It was really refreshing to get some sort of Cultural Performance in our lives. It reminded me of Leila and Sefa growing up in Hawaii and always watching the night show. Good times for sure. Made me miss dancing and teaching.

April 7-9  Ward Conference Activities

We had ward conference activities all week, but these were the main ones that our whole family was able to be a part of...and since I'm in the Relief Society Presidency, we've (because family always gets pulled in) become even more active in the prep, planning, and cleanup of everything. It was such a busy weekend with all the home renovation and my work schedule, but somehow we survived.

FRI: Ward Emergency Preparedness Fair

We also had firefighters and EMT come and tell us more about what they do and the kids got to go through the firetruck and ambulance.

Inside the chapel we had an emergency preparedness information booth, clothing swap, and cooking demonstration.

We wanted to do a cooking demo where we could learn how to make something using things from our food storage; in this case water, sugar, and flour. Sis. Tua showed us how to make the flat panikeke. She hand-wrote all the copies of the recipe for everyone. And that guy in the pic was her demo assistant.

Our kiddos weren't able to attend because Aljay cleaned out the bushes in the front yard while I was at work and Penny and Vjal watched the kids. Then he rushed over to pick me up and we headed straight to the Ward Emergency Preparedness fair because Relief Society was in charge of the event and I didn't want to be late. We didn't finish cleanup until about 10pm (because our ward is in charge of Chapel clean up this month and so we cleanup up the chapel real good after activity) headed over to pick up our sleepy kids. They were knocked out so we just took the babies home.

yesss...i know....explaining my life.

SAT: Stake Auxiliary Training, Easter Egg Hunt/ Ward BBQ, Snow College Luau

I started the morning off at stake training while Aljay finished up the front yard work. Then we helped set up for the Egg Hunt, Aljay helped with the BBQ, I picked up the older two for the Easter Egg hunt and all the cleanup was done by quarter to 5pm.

We were so tired but decided to make the drive at 5:30pm to go to Snow College luau where their Poly club was putting on a dinner and show. I had to go "for work" and so we turned it into a family outing. Snow college is out in the middle of no where, about 1.5 hours south east of Orem. It was a nice drive for our family.  A little bit of a drive, but we were glad the kids were able to watch some sort of cultural performance. It was fun!

SUN: Ward Conference w/ Stake Presidency and Elder Craig Christensen

Since it was ward conference our ward started at 1pm YEAAAHH!!! But we were asked to be there and seated by 12:30 because we had a general authority there and because Pres Fale is big on starting time vs arrival time. But I woke up with a sick family members. Aljay was sick, Sefa was sick, Saleima was starting (runny nose and slight cough), and so I only went to church with Leila and left Viiga to take care of the sick lol.

We stayed for sacrament meeting and second hour because I was helping to make the food for the stake Presidency and the Elder Christensen. Then we jammed to go home and take care of the sickly. Our ward had a ward potluck but honestly I was so tired of eating heavy I just wanted to stay home. Bishop Siufanua ended up stopping by around 6pm with a tray full of food because the ward had too much food. Blessings!

April 10  Home Renovation Projects (exterior Bay window)

The exterior of the bay window needed to redone because there was a bit of wood deteriorating. So Aljay cleared out all the bushes. Kalofae that part alone was a lot of work. Here's the sequence of updates I got throughout the day from Aljay. I really enjoyed getting all his picture updates throughout the day at work.

April 12 Pauhana the front Window

And thus ended the first half of April.
