July Happenings

Last month was more festive than I thought it was going to be. There was much more happening than just me and Iosefa's birthday. Just goes to show that July is the best month ever.

July 4th- Independence Day!

Started the month off with a bang! As in food and fireworks to celebrate 4th of July!   We celebrated with a few other Laie families at a park in Provo where we could see all the fireworks from the BYU Stadium of Fire. It was good company and good food and of course firecrackers galore. But of course I didn't take the time to put my plate down and take any pics so we'll skip on down to the rest of July lol.

July 7th- Celebrated me birthday!

July 11th- Celebrated Iosefa's Birthday!

July 17th- Me Madre and Padre Surprise Us!
My parent's called us and told us they were in Utah and on their way to our house. Yikes! lol. We made a mad dash to clean the house and in 15 minutes they arrived. We were actually getting ready to take the kids to Nate and Lola's place to swim, but thought maybe we should get dinner ready for them.

But hello, they show up and immediately get changed to go to a luau lol. These crazy kids lol. We were so happy that they were here with us though. Even if it was for a short while.

Mom left back to Maryland on Thursday (23rd) but Dad stayed a bit longer to get fofo for his foot. He was going to go back to Maryland once he had his fofo, but we received the sad news that Aunty Sipopo had passed away. So instead of going back home, Dad flew out to Cali for the funeral.

July 19- Agghhh SEFA!

This fwam. Him and Bubbi got kicked out of sunbeams for being too disruptive. They spent the last half hour of church in the foyer class. Sefa is known for keeping the Primary leaders on their toes. The little turd get's his weekly sasa/counsel and is good for a few Sunday's then goes right back to naughty.

When we got home Aljay gave him a good talking to, and every family home evening lesson since has been aimed towards reinforcing REVERENCE!!

Hoiii and to think he'll be starting preschool this year.....Lord help us all.

July 21st- Operation "Getcho Health" Commences

Our brave sister Penny girl underwent surgery to get a stomach sleeve and gallbladder removed. She shared her thoughts on social media and received an out pour of love and support from so many. She also got several people messaging her about their personal struggles with weight loss and making the decision to take further action. Way to have a positive influence on those around you Penny!

Her surgery went well. She is recovering like a champ and adjusting to the changes. It's not an easy process but she has prepared mentally and physically and we're all excited for her and Lahvjal as they embark on this new journey. Way to getcho health Pens!

July 21st- It's a Girl!

Leila's prayers were answered! We're having a girl! Her due date is November 16. Yay! A Thanksgiving baby :)

I was thinking of some fun way to tell the kids but got overwhelmed with the many possibilities and decided to just give the kids a box with something pink in it. Needless to say, they were a bit disappointed with the way we "surprised" them LOL.

And now to begin the process of finding names....womp womp...i think i'll just procrastinate.

July 22nd-25th -PG 10 WARD CAMP!

We didn't camp out since
(1) we didn't have a tent or camping things,
(2) Aljay had to work, and
(3) this preggo is not that hardcore. #neveragainbeingpregnantduringthesummer

But we went during the evening activities after Aljay finished work. Despite missing most of the day time festivities we had a good time, especially at the Friday night feast and Battle of the Decades :) Hopefully we'll get to camp out one of these years lol. Oh and shoutout to the hubby for designing our camp shirts and being the director for our group's skit :)

July 25th- 2nd Annual MRI Carnival

We woke up all tired from the night before. Dropped Aljay off at work (red eyes and all) and made our way to the carnival. We got there in time for the last half hour. The kids and I were so tired but I didn't want them to miss out. The carnival was mean! Pony rides, jumpers, dunk tank, prizes, good food and treats, good music, carnival games, fish pond, and of course everyone from the stake! The best part of the carnival was that it ran from 9-12 and not all day long like it did last year. The committee did an awesome job again!

Major props to the stake Primary Presidency and all the leaders that helped, our ward Primary leaders for being troopers and making it to the carnival after breaking down from camp earlier in the morning, and our Stake Presidency for continuing this awesome program.

I'm more determined to be better at assisting Leila and Sefa and Viiga in their reading and keeping better record of it for next year!

Yes the fish were there again!

July 29- Aunty Sipopo's Funeral

Aunty Sipopo is my paternal Grandpa's sister.  I really wished to be at her life celebration. I camped on facebook more than usual to see pictures posted by my cousins. What a beautiful reunion it was for all the family clans. I enviously looked through everyone's pictures longing to be with family that I haven't seen in years.

I only met Aunty Sipopo a few times throughout my life but I've always known her to be a woman of Faith, Love, and Family- always stressing the importance of putting the Lord first and taking care of Family. She also valued the Samoan culture and instilled the values of respect and reciprocity. She has left behind a beautiful legacy and a posterity that continue to emulate those values.

Even in death Aunty Sipopo was still bringing family together. It was a testament to her influence and example. Until we meet again Aunty Sipopo.

Whewww... what a month July turned out to be! Grateful for all that has happened and all that continues to happen. God has been good to us. And now we're looking forward to August- Leila starting school, Aljay starting a new job, and any other surprises that may come up.

Oh did I skip that part about Aljay quitting his job at Vasa? Well he did. And we are both happy about it! I won't go into detail because I don't want angry feelings right now, but let's just say that corporate management sucks. I'll leave it at that. He loved his job and the team he worked with, it was just the boss dude above him that irritated both of us. But we're happy and excited for his new job at Vivint. :) His last day at Vasa is this Saturday (8/8). I've never seen him so stress free and happier.

Now bring it on August.
