Leila turned 5!!!!


March 22, 2015- My first born turned 5. (What the heck!!!!)

My little Leila is growing up toooooooo fast!!!!!

This post is just for her. 

So here's 5 things about her that make her so wonderful...

  1. She is smart.
    She asks a lot of questions. She inquires about everything. She is a sponge.     One time Aljay and I were going to the temple. She asked if we were going to get a baby. I looked at her like 'what do you mean?'. She replied 'you going to see Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ at their house and you  can ask them for a baby.' She remembered that I told her that babies come from Heavenly Father. She had learned in primary that the temple is the where God dwells. She probably pieced it together like....
    Babies comes from God>>God lives in the Temple>>Mom and Dad are going to the temple>>I've been praying for a baby sister>>Mom and Dad are going to the temple to get me a baby sister
    Not bad. I love how this girl thinks!
  2. She is thoughtful.
    She took some of her birthday money and piggy bank money and asked if she could go to the store to get a toy and some grapes lol. When we got to the store she got what she wanted but also wanted to get a toy for Sefa and a treat for Viiga. Then she asked what else she could get for me and Aljay. My heart was warmed.
  3. She is funny.
    Just have a conversation with her she's hilarious.
    One time I was sitting in the living room and she walks from the bathroom with a bowl of cereal in her hands. She comes up to me and says 'MOM! I just ate my cereal in the bathroom!' I asked her if she was eating while using the bathroom. To that she replied 'YEAH! I could eat my cereal and use the bathroom at the same time!' She was very proud of her multitasking ability. I told her next time to just eat in the kitchen lol.
  4. She is strong and athletic.
    My girl can do push ups and sit ups like a champ. She also runs like her Dad (when he does run lol). She just has an athletic build with the mannerism to go with it. She loves to play outside, ride her bike, climb, and jump, and all those other things that active kids love to do.  Her shoes are all buss up and her toes are starting to pop out through the top of her shoes...kalos. hahaha. It's probably from her trying to use the front part of her shoes as brakes lol. She rides her bike every chance she gets.
    She surprises me with the amount of weight that she is able to lift and carry. Good thing cause I hate making two trips of taking groceries from the car to the house.
  5. She is caring.
    She cares for her family and friends. She prays for everyone.     She is always concerned for her brothers. She is my number one helper and always lets me know if someone needs help. I love her to pieces. 



Birthday Celebration
Since her birthday fell on a Sunday, we decided to take her to the Provo rec center on Friday to swim (it's her favorite!). We also took her to shopping  and got her a Frozen hair accessory kit, some much needed church shoes that just so happened to be Frozen (darn you Frozen!) , and some bright pink sport shoes.

*I was trying to be a hero with her cake lol. But after I stacked the second layer I was over it and asked Aljay to decorate the rest hahahah. He fully enjoyed it tho! 

On Sunday I made her class some goody bags . She was so excited and felt like such a cool kid handing out goody bags to her friends. The junior primary also sang Happy Birthday to her during sharing time. Aljay was there when they sang to her and he said she was beaming when she stood up front and could see her Dad standing in the back. After church we went to Uati and Omi's house for to'ona'i. It was a cake-and-icecream kind of birthday lol but she loved it and enjoyed spending time with her cousins.  


To my first born, my only girl (so far), my little fashionista, the #1 helper, #1 question so'o, smart, fun, loving, curious, mini chef, and everything from A-Z....


We're so humbled to be your parents and so proud of the little human you are growing to be.

Start the year off with two volleyball tournaments for Leila. The picture below is of her and Isa, the only 14-year-olds on their U16 team.  Fires are destroying parts of California, the Palisade area experiencing the worst of it. Texas and some of the southern states are experiencing some of the worst snow/ice conditions. TikTok is on the verge of being banned, President Trump is continuously passing executive orders that are sending people into panic.  Saleima made a list of the disasters and warned us that Jesus was on His way.  Sefa moved up to the Teachers quorum and was ordained by his Dad, Uncle Dennis, and Uncle Ben. He's growing so quickly and I love seeing his growth. They have a great group of young men. Being Prepared For These Times

Auuuu that title sounds like I'm trying to write a General Conference talk or something hahaha. Probably still on the GC vibe from the beginning of the month lol. Anyways... So this pandemic that's going on, it's been something else! It has put the whole world on lock down. So many lives have been affected. I've written quite a bit in my journal, but I wanted to make sure to write about how the Lord has prepared our family specifically for this time. Looking back just in February and March, we can easily see how the Lord had orchestrated parts of our lives.  In February Aljay secured an art collector who commissioned several art pieces. His deposit was the cushion that brought a sense of financial security when we entered this lock-down life.  Towards the end of February, my bosses had heard about school closures in Seattle and decided that we should have a plan in place for our advisers to work remotely in case the schools had to close. 2025 February

Leila - Volleyball and more Volleyball  Leila had two tournaments in February. This club season has challenged her in a good way. She wants to play the outside hitter position but is playing on a 16s team (meaning older girls with more experience) and is sitting in the 3rd spot for out side hitting. To get to the 1 or 2 spot she needs more reps, more practice, and more individual coaching. We're seeing improvements each week, but are planning to set aside money for her to do more 1:1 coaching.  These tournaments are no joke. They are allllll day. 6am - 7pm sometimes. 1-day, 2-day, and sometimes 3-day tourneys. The mental stamina it takes as a parent ahahahahh is a real thing! Trying to say the right things to keep your athlete focused, motivated, and locked in is tough. There are so many things that are over stimulating or compounding: - the non stop sound of whistles and girl's cheering/screaming - the smell of swass in the building that increases as the tournament progresses...
