Bringing in the New Year
2014 was pretty good for our little family.
Huaka'i happened. Viiga was born. Family reunion. Aljay changed jobs! He also sold his artwork! I started working. We actually got a family photo.
And to end the year on a high note....
Aljay got a promotion at work!
He is now the Assistant Manager at the gym he works at. I'm so proud of him and all his hard work. He definitely deserves it.
Also....
Leila moved on from Sunbeams and will now be in CTR 4 :)
Iosefa graduated from Nursery and will be a bright shining Sunbeam!
Viiga popped out his two bottom teeth!
and I am finally able to brave this cold weather without grumbling about it :)
Much to be grateful for and much to celebrate!!!
NYE Celebration
With just about everyone being sick, we decided to celebrate New Year's at home.
The weather temperatures were down to single digits, so we were happy to stay home.
We ate!
Teri chicken kebabs, grilled pineapple, salad, pork steaks, rice.
We drank!
Sparkling apple cider
(you gotta say it with an English accent to feel real boujee)
*Spaaahhkling Ahpple Cidah
And we missed the countdown lol.
old fut status
Actually....Lahvjal came over and Penny stayed home cause she was sick. So I left to take food to Penny and to hang out. We were chitchattin it up and next thing you know we get a phone call from Lahvjal and Aljay to wish us a Happy New Year...at 12:15am.
Gosh darn missed the countdown again (we missed it when we were in Maryland 2009)
It was a nice relaxing evening. Especially for me since Aljay wanted me to take a break from nursing the kids and go hang out. I jumped up real quick at that opportunity lol
But before I headed out to hang with Penns we went over our New Year's resolutions.
Last year for New Years we sat down and wrote down everything we accomplished for 2013 and then everything we wanted to accomplish for 2014. We've kept that paper on our fridge door as a constant reminder of the goals that we have set for ourselves.
Yes we still had the same paper! That's an accomplishment in itself!
We reviewed it and and wrote new ones for this year.
Reviewing 2014 goals...
*We lost some weight...we're not so much super models...but I'll say we're SUPER !! close enough yah
*Potty trained Sefa..Check!
*Leila/Sefa learn songs and 4 scriptures. Check!!
*Stop slouching (for me)...nope...think this one will be a life long goal
*Fix my face/hair....ummm overall I would say I did better than 2013..Aljay gave me the meh look so no check.
*Bare testimony @ Church....we spoke in sacrament once and we bare our testimonies every time we have to teach sooooo Check!

now for the 2015 family goals....
Saw this on facebook and thought "but I love that 'New Year, New Me' stuff" lol
p.s. how bout my editing skills haha.
no but forreals....onward to the real goals...
This is what we came up with in less than 10 mins...lol
Then of course comes the "diggin deeper/ everyday striving to achieve" goals that are constantly being worked on.
1. Take care of our bodies.
for obvious reasons. exercise. eat better. We'll feel better, have better attitudes, and have the energy to do the things the Lord would want us to do.
2. Learn more about the gospel.
Read the Book of Mormon as a family. More better prepared FHE lessons. Make an avid effort to go to the temple. Doing so will not only increase our faith but help us align our goals with the Lord's will.
3. Be better parents.
Instill in our children the importance of the gospel and be the examples of Christlike attributes. Take the time to listen. Go on father/daughter and mother/son dates. Be physically active!
4. Improve scripture study.
“Don’t yield to Satan’s lie that you don’t have time to study the scriptures,” Elder Richard G. Scott taught. “Choose to take time to study them. Feasting on the word of God each day is more important than sleep, school, work, television shows, video games, or social media. You may need to reorganize your priorities to provide time for the study of the word of God. If so, do it!”
5. Serve.
Do our home/visiting teaching. Pray for opportunities. Don't sit back and wait to react. Be proactive. Understand our roles of mother/father and husband/wife. Serve willingly. Be prepared and worthy of the Spirit's promptings. Listen carefully for those promptings.

We have every intention of sticking to our goals. Even if we slip up day to day, we're committed to trying over and over until our efforts become habit.
Cheers to another year! We are grateful for everything that has happened in 2014 and we gladly welcome another year of growth and learning. 2015 is going to be great! I can feel it.
