UTAH- Settling In

Image
So now that we've made it to Utah it was time to settle in.  And we didn't waste any time with it.  One of the first things we did when we got here was get our car registered and change our license plates. It was a sad day. After Aljay changed the plates we both looked at each other and said "WE'RE UTARHNS NOW!" (Yes Utarhns...not Utards cuz we're not tarded lol......yet hahah) For some reason, changing the license plates felt like the final step out of the twilight zone and into the reality that we don't live in Hawaii anymore and that all this traveling is not a vacation but an actual move.  That's when the homesickness started kicking in...for all of us. (This is the  "emotions" and "feelings" part so feel free to skip the blues) I really started missing my family and friends, especially the convenience of having them just down the road from us. I was so sad having to explain to Leila and Iosefa that we cannot go and ...

ROAD TRIP- Utah Bound

Image
Aljay and I were super excited for our  ROOOOAADDD TTRRIIPPPPP!!!! The closest we've been to a roadtrip is driving in a big circle around the island (I guess you can add in those Costco/walmart runs too lol). Islands are limiting like that.  So you can only guess how excited we were to road trip with our little ones! Only thing that was a killer was the HEAT!!!! Oh my life it was HOT !!!! Like when you open an oven and the heat hits your face HOTT! I felt like we were going to melt. I like heat. I don't mind the sun at all. But that dry heat was something else.. anyways... Aljay was suuuppperrr excited especially because everything reminded him of his Mission (Sacramento Mission)! While we drove through Ah Chu's mission he reminisced about his mission and when we went past familiar places he started sharing mission stories that he had never shared with me before. This guy practically drove the whole way. I'm so bubogu...

Made it the MAINLAND!!!

We arrived 5AM in Los Angeles. That's 1AM Hawaii time. We were very very tired . Well at least I was.  The kids were dead asleep but we were awake, soaking in the new scenery while fighting the fatigue. In our minds we felt like.... \ But I'm pretty sure we looked more like... First thing I saw when we landed was FOG! What the FOG! Haven't seen fog for a while. I forgot what it was like. I was so confused because there were clouds everywhere so I kept expecting it to rain! I kept waiting for rain to start pouring and nothing came.  We took a taxi from LAX to the carport in Long Beach. It was expensive but still cheaper than renting a car. During the ride I was paranoid that it would start raining but it never did. Dumb fog! Toying with my mind The poor babies were still in sleep mode We arrived a half hour before the gates opened and had to wait out on the side of the road. We looked like a homeless family hahahaha. But Sefa was h...

Aloha oe Hawaii!

Hawaii will always hold many dear memories for our family- from hanabada Laie elementery days for Aljay, to our single adult college days, to married life, to now being out on our own with two beautiful kids to love and support. Along the way we've met so many new people, forged new friendships, and strengthened our bonds with our families here in Hawaii. We are so grateful for our family and friends and for their love, help, and support for our little family.  We love you and are deeply grateful for you all. We are ever so grateful for being able to live, love, and learn in a beautiful place.   In preparation for our trip we had a moving sale and cleaned out everything! We also took several of our unsold items to the free-bin at TVA. Thannnkk goodness for that bin. It makes you feel like your not just throwing good useful items away, even though some of the stuff does just end up in the dump anyways.   Moving Sale/Clean out Da...

We're on the MOVE!!!!

Image
Cheeehoooo! So here's our adventurous move to UTAH!! DAY 1 (Wed-June 26) 5:00 AM   We were on our way to the airport.      ~We are flying on standby tickets. Yes..during the summer. Yes...with two toddlers. Yes...it was a bad idea lol. 6:30  AM   We said our "final goodbyes".                 ~When you're flying standbye you never really know for sure if that is your last time, so it was kind of an unsure goodbye. Still sad though. Leaving home is never easy. 8:00 AM  Leai make it the flight. All the flights were overbooked. 2:00 PM  Leai make it on the next flight. ~So we called up Aunty Tiare and  headed back to Laie and decided to try for the evening flight. Which ends up being overbooked also. Boo. So we decided to head back to Laie and try for Friday. Kids -  Both did pretty well despite their constant need to ...

4 Years of Marriage! Yay team!

Happy 4 Year Anniversary   to my wonderful husband who makes me smile and laugh every day!  Aljay and Cassandra Fuimaono est. June 11, 2009 There are so many reasons why I love him but since this is our Fourth anniversary here's 4 reasons why I just keep falling in love with him! 1. He cleans. He does this thing where he sweeps eeeeeevverryything....yes everything- diapers (clean and dirty rolled up ones), spoons, rubbish, kids toys, pens, pencils, and anything else that lands on the floor....to one corner (usually right next to the trash can) and then leaves it there until the magic cleaning fairy sweeps it into a dustpan and dumps it in the rubbish. lol. And I can't help but laugh whenever I see a pile of rubbish/stuff alll swept up riiiiiight next to the trash can. 2. He takes on any challenge!  When we stayed at Turtle Bay I left my bra on the chair on the balcony to dry. I came back to check if it was dry and the thing had either blown over ...
