Mommy Memoirs: August 2019

Where to start, where to start.
The whole month of August has been nothing short of exhausting.

Okay so if you can't already tell....this will start off as an unloading/decompressing/venting session..feel free to skip the purple parts lol

During the first week of August, when the out-of-state families had started arriving, I was preparing for two weeks of training up in Salt Lake. During the week of the actual family reunion I was doing the first full week of training up in Salt Lake. These were 10 - 11 hour days (including the dreadful rush hour traffic). I came home exhausted every day.

Then after the reunion I was on the second week of training taking my teams to different colleges to do campus tours. During that week we visited 11 campuses across Utah in 5 days. It was a lot of travel, a lot of walking, and just a lot.

Add on top of that a death in the ward, a fun family reunion, and then having to say goodbye to all the family. Talk about a ton of emotions hitting hard.

Anyways....I was soooo relieved once the two weeks of training were done, but it wasn't like things were going to slow down. The advisers that I oversee were starting their first week in the high schools, my own children were starting their first week of school (and you can bet we did their back to school shopping so late!), and we had to make a mad rush to get Viiga registered for kindergarten (because we totally slacked on that).

And then throw on top of that the training (sometimes at 6am, sometimes 2 hours on a weekend), meetings, and various things needing my attention for church.

And of course cannot forget the natural feelings of wanting to have quality time with the hubby, with the family, with the kids, with myself lol

**okay transitioning off of the mountain of hardships**

But with all things, the Lord's tender mercies bring us relief and comfort throughout all the chaos. Some of those blessings include:

  • A priesthood blessing - I asked Aljay to give me a priesthood blessing before I started the two weeks of training and I know I was comforted and strengthened because of it.
  • Mom being here a little longer and helping to watch the kids while Aljay and I clean up (as in recover/recoup/recharge/clean house lol from two weeks of hosting/events/reunion)
  • Brittany quitting her job and being available to help babysit as well while she job searches
  • Finding out that Viiga is able to do ALL DAY kindergarten. Huuuuge blessing! Now he get's to go to school and return from school with Leila and Sefa. Majah relief!
    • Most kindergarten's here in Utah are only a few hours a day, sometimes only a few days a week, which can be kind of difficult for pickup/drop off.
It's always these tender mercies that help me remember that the Lord is in the details of our lives. That He is very much aware of what we are going through, and that He is there for us IF we are willing to have Him.

**and now transitioning to the things I'm looking forward to**

I'm sure I'll need the reminder over and over again as we move into the next few months, which I am really looking forward to. Some of the things I'm excited for are--

  1. Viiga's First Day of School - he is so ready
  2. Finding out baby's gender :) - Aljay reckons it's a boy. I have no inclinations so we'll just see.
  3. *Fingers crossed* Getting a second car (Heaven knows we need it)
  4. Fall - it really is a pretty season
  5. Seeing what other projects lay ahead for Aljay.

Until next time...or like next month lol ....or whenever I need to sit down and do this again..
