September | And the fun don't stop

9.7.18 | PASIFIKA FIRST FRIDAYS

So Monique Ho Ching, who curated the Weber Art of the Pacific Exhibit, is also part of the Pasifika First Friday's committee. The committee is made up of herself and her older sisters who are all brilliant

Pasifika First Friday's holds an event every first Friday of the month at the Gateway shopping plaza. These events highlight Pacific Islander artists and gives them a platform to showcase and sell their work.

For this show they asked if Aljay would be willing to do live art and he agreed. They transported all the pieces from Weber to Salt Lake and set up the entire venue.

The turnout was awesome and the interaction with the crowd was so cool. Mom and Dad were able to come out and see Aljay's artwork and tons of family was there as well.

Aljay was super chill about everything until he saw Tali and Inoke Funaki lol....but it was sooooooo good to see them and to hear their feedback because Tali is an artist who Aljay's looks up to.

On top of that, the HoChing Family is so awesome and we have loved getting to know them! We know for sure they are a group that we will continue working with.

9.8.18 | TO BE SPACIFIC ART GALLERY
This exhibit was organized by Tracy Williams. She is a local artist here in Utah. The exhibit featured Pacific Islander artist in all mediums; dance, decorative weapons, clothing design, spoken word, and of course painting.

Mom was able to attend with Aljay and I. Dad and Tui were gracious enough to watch all the kiddos at home.

It was cool to meet up with the other artists and to meet some of Aljay's "fans". Lol...It's not a laughing matter but it is still weird to both of us that people forreals ask to take pictures with him and that they say "we are big fans of your work"....lol...it's validating for Aljay but also weird to call people fans or followers (instagram).

I should of taken more photos but I was posting more on instagram...ioeeee...yah girl is getting better at posting on instagram. #gettingwitdatimes

9.10.18 | Family Time

Mamo and her family were in Utah for a little bit so we got the chance to have a family to'onai/FHE with everyone.

9.11.18 | Miracle
I went to Tahitian practice....and it was hella ugly and little bit shame and hanging and embarrassing. But I did it and I'm proud of myself for doing something I really do not like (i like dancing but I loaaaathe Tahitian dancing....only cause it's the one section that was the hardest for me to pickup).

In other news.. Leila and Sefa are doing so well in dance. We're so proud of the both of them.

9.8.18 | Mom's 64th Birthday
Dad and Mom spent the evening at the temple...meanwhile we just got off work and were rushing to get dinner ready. When they got home we had dinner and sang happy birthday. Shoutout to Leila who was such a big help by making the cake all by herself.

Reminder!! Insert video herrrree
9.20-21.18 | Samoan Language Symposium
BYU hosted the Samoan Language Symposium this year. Aljay was invited to display his artwork. As a result, Uncle Gaugau registered us for the symposium **for free :) **(yay us! Cause this event cost money!)

The preparation leading up to the event was quite stressful! Aljay wanted to do all Samoan themed paintings....and wanted to do a portrait of Tamasese....and then decided to add some of his other art pieces and yet we still haven't fully tried out the whole art installation process in the area where the art will go....so many things.

I was lucky enough to get the days off for the symposium....but I was still stressing over what to do with the kids!? Thanks to Rachel and Liz the kids were situated. We were able to get everything for the show ready and the big reveal for Efi went reaaalllyyy well!!

I should do a separate Manusina Art blog huh?

Anyways....that's a snapshot of September...it's almost 1am and I'm chiirrrrrreeed.
I know I got a do another update on the keiki and maybe revamp my weightloss journey hahahahah cuz okaaaaa I'm soooo chubs!!! **Look at that picture of me in white...hahahha
