Easy Maple Syrup
This recipe I learned from when I was living with Uati and Omi.
It's super simple, frugal, and tasty.
All you need for easy maple syrup is 3 ingredients..
- sugar
- water
- Maple extract (or imitation extract).
Here's how it's made...
It's a 2:1 ratio of sugar to water so.... 2 cups of sugar to 1 cup of water or whatever measurement you want to use just make sure its a 2:1 ratio.
Bring to boil and allow it to boil until the sugar is dissolved and the liquid is clear.
Then add in a tablespoon of maple extract (Use a little less if your using less than 2 cups sugar) and bring it down to a simmer. You could just turn the heat off and let it sit on the burner until it cools.
Let it simmer for a few minutes (2-3).
Give it a good stir and there you go.
Tips:
It needs to cool in order to thicken. I put mine in something I can use to serve with and pop it in the fridge until I'm done making my pancakes/french toast/oatmeal/ whatevers...
I usually make a fresh batch for when we need but you could do a big batch and store it for later.
