MAY MADNESS Part 2



May 20th-  

Realized there are only 4 days until school is OVER!!! Exited much?? Yesss pleezzzz!!!! :)

Oh and Leila went barbershop on us and chopped her hair. That Little monkey..

Happy Birfday to my best friend, eternal companion, father of our children, dance partner, personal chef, muscle man, fashionista, artist, mechanic, funny guy, best-thing-that's-ever-happened-to-me, super man hunk of a husband....

That evening we dropped off the kids at TVA with Penny and Lahvjal (bless their souls) and then headed down to Kaneohe for a much needed and long overdue date night. 
Before we watched a movie, we ate at this Japanese style BBQ place at windward mall...was pretty guuuud.


MAY 24th - 



LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!

Toooo mean.

No More GRADING!

No More Irritating KIDS!

No More PLANNING!!!!!!!!!! 

MUAHWHAHAHAHAHAHAH ITS OVER!!!!!
 (well at least for a few months)

BUT.......

I would be lying if I said I didn't miss it. "IT" being the students, watching them grow, hearing the ridiculous things that come out of their mouths, seeing a light go on in their heads....its exciting to see the light bulbs turn on....because its like a solar eclipse! Cool when it happens...but only happens a few times in the year...

And YES there are the students that you wish were absent every day...and there are students that just need a good sasa but in the end.....they're just kids. 

And despite how they may act sometimes, they really do have a thirst for knowledge and a yearning for attention, reassurance, acceptance, support and love...Yes love.

I am grateful for the opportunity I had to teach Poly and Hawaiian Dance at King Intermediate. I'm grateful to have met and taught the King students and to have worked along side some awesome teachers, faculty, and administration.

 p.s. Poly/Hawaiian dance is the funnest course to teach...and after teaching it, I don't know how I'd ever want to go back to teaching a core subject!

Our pinoy brada Ben has returned with honor from a two year mission in Naga  Philipines and is now back in Hawaii!

And once again "BeNina" is reunited and we happily await whatever future plans lay ahead for them.

H5 Ward Camp :) yessss!!!!

Dis guy was so happy to be able to run everywhere and play wif alllll the kids but mostly Joseph and Leila

We spent most of camp with the Fiauis and Aveas...crashing at their tent, eating all their food, and forcing them to play rummy with us...lol..

Some of my favorite memories from this year's ward camp...

1. Just watching all the kids running around playing for days
2. Bro. Tufaga emceeing. Never fails to put a smile on our faces. 'Come Come We Say'! 
3. Bishopric doing the "peel banana...peel peel banana..."
4. Rummy tournament with the Fiauis, Fuimaonos, Tafitis, and Aveas.
5.  Elvis singing in different tongues.
6. Tomai stealing the show.
7. Sunday to'ona'i......always well attended.
8. Football/rugby/whatever they were playing with the football and trashcans
9. Smores for days.

14. Spotting people around camp pick up a knife and start spinning...if everyone who knew how to spin could spin with fire at the same time...that woulda been one mean shot for the ward camp video....nekminnet burn the field and H5 is banned from Kakelas lol. 
15. And during ward camp My Seeesster Candace called and gave me some O for Osum NEWS!!!!

*I didn't have a picture so I told her to take on of herself that captures the " GUESS WHAT!!! I'M PREGNANT!!!" look, and send it to me. heheheheh...ehm. eh...hmm...yeah I need to upgrade and get a new phone, or a camera.


Overall....May has been a busy but blessed month! Now its time to get going with the packing, shipping, moving and planning for our MOVE to UTAH!

Start the year off with two volleyball tournaments for Leila. The picture below is of her and Isa, the only 14-year-olds on their U16 team.  Fires are destroying parts of California, the Palisade area experiencing the worst of it. Texas and some of the southern states are experiencing some of the worst snow/ice conditions. TikTok is on the verge of being banned, President Trump is continuously passing executive orders that are sending people into panic.  Saleima made a list of the disasters and warned us that Jesus was on His way.  Sefa moved up to the Teachers quorum and was ordained by his Dad, Uncle Dennis, and Uncle Ben. He's growing so quickly and I love seeing his growth. They have a great group of young men. Being Prepared For These Times

Auuuu that title sounds like I'm trying to write a General Conference talk or something hahaha. Probably still on the GC vibe from the beginning of the month lol. Anyways... So this pandemic that's going on, it's been something else! It has put the whole world on lock down. So many lives have been affected. I've written quite a bit in my journal, but I wanted to make sure to write about how the Lord has prepared our family specifically for this time. Looking back just in February and March, we can easily see how the Lord had orchestrated parts of our lives.  In February Aljay secured an art collector who commissioned several art pieces. His deposit was the cushion that brought a sense of financial security when we entered this lock-down life.  Towards the end of February, my bosses had heard about school closures in Seattle and decided that we should have a plan in place for our advisers to work remotely in case the schools had to close. 2025 February

Leila - Volleyball and more Volleyball  Leila had two tournaments in February. This club season has challenged her in a good way. She wants to play the outside hitter position but is playing on a 16s team (meaning older girls with more experience) and is sitting in the 3rd spot for out side hitting. To get to the 1 or 2 spot she needs more reps, more practice, and more individual coaching. We're seeing improvements each week, but are planning to set aside money for her to do more 1:1 coaching.  These tournaments are no joke. They are allllll day. 6am - 7pm sometimes. 1-day, 2-day, and sometimes 3-day tourneys. The mental stamina it takes as a parent ahahahahh is a real thing! Trying to say the right things to keep your athlete focused, motivated, and locked in is tough. There are so many things that are over stimulating or compounding: - the non stop sound of whistles and girl's cheering/screaming - the smell of swass in the building that increases as the tournament progresses...
